90 GSX/TSI

Sitting for more than a decade. Ex. The tires were 2003 manufacture date.

A quick update. Pressure washed some of the almost 20 years of grime off. Replaced the makeshift control arms just to move it. Vacuumed a little bit. Realized it all has to come out. Then I realized if it all has to come out to clean, well it might as well get a cage if the rust isn’t too bad because the 92’s interior is somewhat nice.

I had to bring the cars to the shop as my neighbors decided only my cars were an issue in the neighborhood 🙃. Pulled the valve cover on the GSX. Extremely clean for not running in 20 years. Crower springs/retainers and cams. More to follow as I’m pulling the longblock and trans this weekend.

Progress! I found some more damage and decided before I even brought it here that I’m probably gutting the Eclipse and making the Talon whole again. It might be on dolly roller by the time I get done with it for scrap or junkyard.

Got to pull the engine and trans today. More “damage” than I expected but that’s to be expected. I’m wondering if the trans case and block can be properly welded but if not just a little step back.

We promised Mike that we would come in one weekend to do some maintenance on the 32’ and figured might as well get some parts cleaned and organized. JE pistons and Eagle rods. Looks to be a good crank. Nothing really substantial to gripe about. I also pulled the center on the black car for Mike at EFI Specialties. I’ll be back tomorrow to get something done. I’m just not sure what yet. Probably pressure wash the black car and clean the engine bay.

Slow and steady right? Pulled the subframes, tank, and literally anything I can use. The plan is to get these down to metal and paint, install new bushings, crossmember kit and mustache bar. Pull the ones on the black car and swap them but before either bedline the entire underside or undercoat. New Timken bearings all the way around, toe eliminator. Everything will get Steel-it black. The strip and prep that one for bodywork.

The entire front is getting blacked out. Might as well pull the hood and other fender and do it right. New fuel lines, hardware, brake lines, brakes(might use the brakes from the 92 which is all new including rear calipers), it’s a lot.
As close to completely restored or better is what I want but house over daily, daily over the other projects and I have way too many projects.
