So i have a 90 eclipse that use to run but hasn’t ever been on the road so i only drove it around now and again. Over about a 6 month period it went from running fine but just completely shutting off for a second but would start back up... to running but bucking and jerking like crazy to what it is now which is no spark and not running at all.

The caps were bad on the ECU which i found out after the car had no spark so i got a use board that was suppose to be in good working order in addition to a new coil, power transistor pack i believe (the module on the driver side of the head) and also a used cam positioning sensor which i had already bought. So after a used ECU, CAS, and a new power transistor pack with plugs and wires im still stuck with no spark.

So does anyone have any idea where to go from here or how to test if either the used ECU or CAS where bad when bought. I can fix a car if i know whats wrong with it but troubleshooting isnt my cup o tea.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can detach the cas and spin it by hand to see if it's firing spark plugs.... of course I would probably not leave the motor at tdc to do this.

Maybe im missing something here but what exactly would the point of that be. The motor turns over, so it turns the CAS when i try to start the car. But like i said before there is no spark, so what is the diff between turning the cas over by hand or letting the motor do it? Either way its should fire the plugs which it does not.

Then you can stand right next to the motor, without the sound of the motor and you can hear if anything funny is happening.... like maybe the coils are never getting power period... and you're only hearing the injectors energize.... I would suspect a bad cas.... you could also very easily connect someone else's cas and spin it by hand to see if it is the problem. Other than that since you've changed everything I'd be looking at the ecu again with a magnifying glass.

Well thats the damn problem. The 90's have a diff cas than the other first gens and i dont know anyone else that has a 90 turbo. Junk yards are fresh out as well. its hard to just find a first gen turbo around my way. Do you know how to test an ecu or cas if thats possible. i found instructions today on how to test the coil and transistor pack... not that i thik they are the problem since they are the two new parts. but hey it could happen i guess.

thanks
