1G 90 ECU burned up

about a week ago i getting ready to leave in my 90 eagle talon tsi and while i was letting the car warm up it stalled out and i was like wtf all of a sudden smoke started coming out from behind the dash so i got the ecu out and opened it and it had a burn mark on it i check all the wires and everything looks good and the car only has 70,000 original miles has anyone ever heard of that happening

Check the classifieds, or the supporting vendors. You shouldn't have a hard time finding an ECU in either of those spots.

Most likely the capacitors just got smoked. You can have your ecu rebuilt, or possibly pick up a good used one somewhere.
