He i was trying to find out what was all needed and how to swap a 90 4g63t into a 93 i have the engine i just got completely rebuild alone with the ECU and Wiring harness.... my mech which is an ex michu tech. said it would be difficult due to the fact the dash hooks up to a 93 ecu and the 90 & 93 ecu are completely different!
Altho he said he had never done a swap like this is wasnt completely sure but didn't think it would work!!!

Some one please tell me youve done this and please help!

I put a s*** load into this already and dont want to be told i need to spend more time and money by getting a 90 shell!!
don't want flip ups!

Isn't the only difference between the 90 and 93 the TPS and ECU? Use the 93 ECU, change the TPS and you should be ready to go.

ECU changes mean that 1991+ ECUs don't operate the 1990 tachometer correctly.

93 cars had 7 bolt motors and almost no EPROM ECU's.

If you want to put a 90 motor in there, I would look into trying to replace the ECU and harness with a 90 as well. If you got the motor out, it's shouldn't be that much more work.

That's why when most guys do a 1G in a 2G, they look for 91 motors.

Here's the reasons why and some more information to help you out. Good luck.

Soo the 93 Talon is considered a 2G??
Didnt think is was! :hmm:

And i have the wiring harness and ecu from the 90!! Pulled it all out when i took the motor out!! Wasnt to easy.... didn't cut a single wire! :hellyeah:

No, the 93 is still a 1G, the engine was just a 7 bolt. The motor wasn't what made the difference in the generations of cars, it was the model.

One thing; if the 93 has a good harness in it why would you want to put a 90 harness in it. If you got the 93 camsenor, coilpack, and the power transister youR set. All you do is use the 93 sensors on the 90 block. Change pinouts on the ecu. DONE!

Alright..... Thanks for the help! Its well appreciated, just wish me luck the swap goes clean from here!

Hopefully soon ill be cruisin down congress dsm style... this build as been in progress for almost 2 years... due to money and lack of motivation from my brother!!
(AND a mech that was lazy{got new one})

Thanks again,

How is the wiring harness in the 93;if it is good use it. The harness in the 93 willbe a lot easier to use. I have a 6 bolt swap in mine. The 93 is turbo correct.

Actually, this thread is misleading...

Im the one doing the swap and the car is a 93 N/T Talon

The ECU/Harness is a 90 and what im thinking is the 93 N/T Fusebox Harness wont play well with the 90ECU Harness..

Use all your 93 Wiring. Find a 91+ ECU, sell the 90 and harness. You'll need the TPS and the Coilpack assembly from a 91+ TURBO or N/A, that is all I believe.

ya i would if i didn't already get it completely rebuilt!! Or ill just have to sell my shell and get a 90, but its hard to find one that is in as good as condition as my shell is! already pimped out with my system window tint i just spent 250 on paint new,
everything!!!

You can use all the 90 stuff if you do just that. You have you use all the 90 stuff. Everything on the harness, wiring, fues box ect. I will see if I can get some expert advice on this becuase I haven't personally tried this swap before.

Alright.... that would be awesome.. thanks again!

So to make clear... would have have to change out my dash and all that too? Since the dash has all the warning light and gauges that hook up to the ecu at some point!

What he's trying to say is just to find a 91+ Ecu and harness...

There is no difference in any 6 bolt motors.. just the shell's

i dunno what this guy is trying to say... :idontknow:

* What we are all trying to say IN PLAIN ENGLISH! Is the fact you have a 1993 car - so USE a 1991,1992,1993,1994 Harness, ECU, TPS sensor & Coil assembly - they will plug into every sensor on the 1990 engine - accept the TPS sensor & the COIL/POWER TRANSISTOR (which is why you need them from a 1991+ chassis. If you are not experienced with swaps & wiring I advise against this. You will turn your car into a Nightmare!
IF you are bent on converting your car to 1990 electronics? WHY - that is retarded! Because is 1990 is not interchangable with any other year! So do yourself a favor, and sell the 1990 Harness & ECU you have from the Junkyard and buy (if youve somehow missplaced the wiring originally in your chassis) the above noted component's, it will work! I hope this was clarifying and enlightening... I now need a beer.
