Alberta,
Does anyone have any information on this? I see on ebay they are selling 6bolts for like 1400. They have a great warranty which is why im so interested. Does anyone know waht the 7bolts go for? What they come with and what you need that they dont give you?

Any information is welcomed.

Overbore.com is located about 15-20 min from where i live. They claim that they solved the crankwalk problem. They do something to fix it when they build their 7-Bolts. As far as knowing how reliable the engines are i can't help you. If I were you i would go to Overbore and get their phone number and call them and ask questions.

Engine Warrenty

3 year 60 000 Mile / 100 000 KM warranty.

I had a buddy who got a "built" motor it turned out to be a OEM rebuild  ... They never told him how to break the motor in, and he fried the rings.... Well under their warranties policy they would not fix it or help him out.

as for me :notgood: -10 for overbore.com

I got a built 7-bolt from Overbore. Specs are in my profile. Car is running but not on the road yet (no insurance yet). Once I insure it and run if for a while I'll let you know how it is. Cheers.

How much did you pay for itt? Did it swap right in?

With shipping and core charge and everything it came to $5000 CND which is like $4700 ish USD. It swapped in fine, but I didn't do the swap. I had a shop put it in for me. Overall, I'm satisfied with it. The price may seem like a lot but I have a lot of internals put in. Plus it came with a new Oil and Water pump and things like that. So for a total package I think the price was fair.

The only beef I had was with the packaging. The engine got put on a skid and wrapped with plastic wrap. It was not inside a crate. It got damaged in shipping, one of the cam gears got broken, and the shipping company refused to cover it. I was choked because I had to cover the expense. Luckily I had the shop use the cam gear off my old motor and swapped it in but the labor I had to pay myself.

If you do get an engine from Mark at overbore then I suggest you insist on having it packaged in a crate to avoid the problems I ran into.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

The 1300 dollar 6 bolt does not use oem parts. I talked to him about this once. For all oem parts the motor was like 3200 or something... its probably the same situation for the 7bolt

Similar story for me as well. Head was WAY over ported and in cylinder 4 it looked like some one fell asleep with the dremel. Port job was aweful and not to mention the head wasnt straight. When we ran it we heard some horrible binding sound coming from the head, turns out the cam valleys weren't straight and it ate up my FP cams. Had to buy new.

That nasty blue 2g from Canada has an overbore engine. Obviously his is built and he is sponsored, but his car impressed the hell out of me at the shootout.

I just came across this site today and was wondering if they really did fix the crank walk problem with 7-bolts. I'm saving up for a 6-bolt swap right now (as my motor is getting close to 100k and I really don't want anything to happen) and was wondering if just going with the "fixed" 7-bolt would be better for me. Does anyone have any info in this "fixed" 7-bolt?

Mark from overbore told me they bore out the block where the bearing goes and they put in a new (larger) bearing. I don't know the details but if you email Mark then he can explain it to you better.

Honestly I'd just do the 6bolt swap. My motor crapped out on me and I was just going to do the basics like turn the crank, new bearings, etc. But then I said Eff it and bought Eagle rods and Weisco pistons for a 6bolt.

From everything I've read, the swap is not that hard at all. Prior to all this, I haven't had much experience with engines, just bolt on stuff. I'd just build a 6bolt yourself. You will learn so much about cars and working on them yet you will also get a badass motor and save yourself a TON of money.

Although this is easy for me to say since I have another car to get me to school/work. But no head and crappy tires really does suck when it's snowing out.

I was thinking about that, but the thing is I really only have the summer home being away in college and all. I don't really have the know-how or the tools to build my own motor (I would definitely do it if I could, but I don't think thats the best option for me at this point in time at least.) I've been looking around seeing 6-bolt long blocks for sale for like $1300 (but then I have to worry about the wiring and all the sensors and problems that go along with them), then I hear people say the 1g block with the 2g head is a good combination (still not too sure, everyone seems to say different things about that) and just today I hear about this "fixed" 7-bolt. I don't know if this is the right thread, but all these things are making me indecisive. Is there anyone who can tell me about their experiences with any of these options, or if there is another better one out there for me?

Dude wiring is a piece of cake. All you do is make a wiring harness for the 1G Cam Angle Sensor, swap the wires on your coil pack so you don't have to change your firing order, and change a few wires on the ECU with a tiny screwdriver. The only problem is you can get a random misfire, but a blacktop sensor can fix that which are similar to the 95-96 cam sensors which uses a hall effect.

If you don't think you can do it, then by all means I wouldn't. I'm just saying it's worth it in every aspect in the long run.
