7Bolt Crankwalk Distance

I just removed the flywheel off the crank, and reattached a flywheel bolt to feel the crankwalk. Anyways, when I grab the bolt, the crank moves very slightly. Not much at all. It moves as much as the width of this ----> I ( the width of the capital i)

I bought the car used with a bad tranny, so I haven't had a chance to start it yet.

Is this movement an amount that would case some crankwalk problems?

Please dont tell me to search, I know a lot about crankwalk, except measuring how much is too much or excessive. Thanks guys!

Also, the car is all stock with 72k miles.

Considering people use all kinds of different resolutions and screen sizes, it's hard telling.. But considering crank specs are in thousandths, I would venture to say that the amount of play you are describing would be way out of spec. Even if it doesn't feel like much by hand.

Ummm, check the book for crank endplay tolerances. Not got one handy

"feel" won't tell you squat. Get a dial indicator, measure the play and compare it to specs. It either is, or is not in spec. That's why they call it objective measurement.
