The MDP (or map) sensor does two things. Utmost it tells the ecu if the EGR system is working. Second most it is a BACK UP (a.k.a. limp mode) for the MASS if it ever failed. I know this personally. Long ago when I was on S-AFC days I had gotten an AFC off ebay. Car ran but no changes ever worked. And I threw CEL lights for the MASS,switched to a buddy of mines AFC and worked fine (no messed up wires just defective S-AFC). Now for the point. I switched out the mass and even unplugged it and no change on the defective AFC. I unplugged the MDP and car died. Then when i did my 6 bolt swap later. I was CONSTANTLY throwing CEL lights that shut the car down....but would start right back up. I hooked up the MDP and worked fine. Now dsmlink fixed all those problems 2 years ago. My 2cents -I hook it up on all the 6 bolt and 1g head swaps I do (total of 12 now after this week be up to 14)

Remove the PCV valve...

Intall a barb on the VC and route it and the oe breather to a catch can..

Put the MAP sensor on the intake mani nipple for the PCV was connected to.

a barb being something the vacuum hose can be attached to, but how does the barb attach to the valve cover? route it where? whats the breather got to do with this?

Its a good idea to run a catch can off your breather nipple on the VC and to delete the PCV by puting another nipple on it to add more ventilation to the catch can.

This frees up another port on the intake manifold close to the size of the brake booster line.. It can go to the intake side where the PCV used to hook up and you wont need to mess with your booster vac line..
