Ok I'm not fully up to this point yet but kinda want to get this one out of the way. I have about 4bolts keeping my old 7bolt on right now and I'm wondering how do you reattach the AC and the starter when you swap the 6 bolt motor in. Are most of you guys throwing in just the block then attaching the head or throwing the block and head in without the intake manifold. Hopefully you see what I'm getting at. To throw it all in at once seems like it would be a tight squeeze for the reattaching of stuff in the back.

Confusing enough?

i just finished my swap about 1 week ago, as for bolting up the starter you need to retain your 7-bolt starter plate. The AC was put in using the original bracket from the 7-bolt also. My motor was dropped into my car completely full including all the belts and pulleys, head, intake and exhaust manifold with turbo, tranny was bolted on too!!! The trick is to slide the tranny in first. Anyways good luck with it man. Any questions, just check out the tech articles on the 6-bolt swap. If not PM me with any questions.

Well what I'm saying is that I disconnected the AC from the block but not out of the engine bay. I'm thinkin connecting all the stuff in the back of the engine bay would be a giant pain with the full engine in

It will be a pain but it's not impossible. You could just drop the block and tranny in and then put the head on afterwards if you'd like.

When I did it we ended up bolting the starter up to the engine/tranny and sliding it in tranny 1st like Bluebyu96Tsi did. The entire engine/tranny/intake mani and all. Then once we had motor mounts bolted up I just bolted the compressor to the bracket. It wasn't too bad you just have to take it slow when you're dropping it in as to not crush your arms and or the compressor. :thumb:
