I have just done a 6 bolt in a 2G 1995 Swap and everything is good except one thing. The IDLE is very high. It sits around 2000 rpm and does not surge. I have no check engine lights and the Biss Screw is tightened the whole way down. I also changed the IAC to a known good IAC and the condition is the same.

My main question is can a maladjusted TPS cause A high idle? There are no CELs or any driving issues. I have thoroughly checked for vacuum leaks and there are none.

I spoke to DSMChips guru Jeff O and he also suspects a maladjusted TPS but i wanted to know if anyone ever had a similar issue.

Idle does not surge or waver just sits about 2K. I also removed the Throttle cable to make sure there is no tension and I checked the T-Body and the throttlebody is fully closed at idle. Also if I disconnect the MAF it almost will not run.

I am at a loss.

Thanks

Is this a 1g TB? Try adjusting your TPS. Make sure your vacuum hoses going to the TB are correct.

TPS could very well possibly cause this. 2gs do not have an idle switch and use TPS values to determine when to go into 'idle mode' TPS should read below 2% i believe. Check your service manual to adjust or just loosen the bolts and turn it down to see if you cant decrease idle.

I also had high idle when i first strarted my new motor, it was the throttle cable too tight, it needs a little slack in it. on a 1g intake thats pretty much as far over as you can adjust the cable

ive herd of this problem from alot of people, most just live with it, on cold start idle will sit at 2k, and when warm will fall to around 1k, either mess with your biss or live with it, check tps but i doubt that will help,
my 2 cents,

this pic kinda shows how far over the 2g cable needs to be adjusted over to give it enough slack to not over idle. You can also adjust the idle switch to close the tb plate if your runnin a 1g or the screw for the 2g tb

Well guys it was a bad t-body. I guess the shaft seals were bad. I adjusted the TPS, tried a spare ECU and I removed and reinstalled the t-bodya few times to MAKE SURE it was sealed well and I ended up swapping t-bodies and it was fixed the first time I tried a new t-body. Thanks for the suggestions.

BTW I didnt have any issue with the cable being adjusted far away though.
