I started my new motor up yesterday, and it was running a little rough... only at idle in my garage. after about 30 seconds I took the rpms from 900ish to 2500...up and down over and over... everything seemed great. Then one time when i pushed the pedal down a little the rpms jumped to like 7000WTF. Then it just died and now I cannot get it to start again.

The motor:-all new-
Eagle Rods with ARP bolts
Wisco 8.3:1 pistons
Polished stock crank
ARP main Studs
-------------------------
Cometic metal head gasket(both the head and block were re-surfaced...and polished...)
------------------------
The 2G head:-all new-
BC 272 cams
BC springs and retainers
Evo exhaust valves (.5mm bigger)
1mm oversized intake valves
new valve seals

I have no Idea what it could be... What tests should I do? I am going to test compression and my plug gaps first, then what?

who knows, maybe you jumped timing or something like that, it cranks but wont start?
