2G 6500 idle

[420a non-turbo]

I've got 97 Mitsubishi eclipse RS 2.0 non turbo dohc 420a engine block... On my way home my car reved to about 4500 rpms while in first but it was as if the gear wasn't engaged and it wouldn't move. It's gotten worse now. When I start my car it jumps to 4000 rpms and then rests at 6500. Idk if the gears catch because I'm pretty sure trying to shift into first at 6500 isn't a smart idea.... But I've checked my throttle body sensor, my IAC, all my vacuum lines, my air filter... Idk what else to do... What's going on?

Did you check your throttle cable to see if it was stuck, may be leaving your throttle plate cracked open.

I checked that it's fine no major tension in the cable the valve is closed all the way... I'm removing my intake manifold now to see if there's any discrepancies

Although I did notice that I can wiggle my intake manifold and I haven't taken any bolts out yet

Yea that is likely your issue. Remove the intake manifold and look for stripped threads in the head or a cracked flange. Replace whatever is broken and replace with a new gasket.

I believe so I think there's an I'm intake manifold bolt under my car..... my engine shakes violently.. could it be the cause of my bolts being loose. Because all of my valve cover bolts were loose... And at one point it knocked off my oil cap and my air filter, and I recently had to replace my clutch and flywheel because my bolts came out...Could it be a result in a bad engine mount

If your motor violently shakes, I would look at your motor mounts. At this point, I would go through your engine and make sure everything is tight while taking a closer look at your mounts.
