as the topic states, i am currently in a dilema and need some feed, as i originally had a 6 bolt turbo block, but after some inspections the block has a line crack right @ the water pump.

Cant find any turbo charge block locally ( Jamaica), i have located 2 n/a blocks.

Just want to know if it could be used

As the article states the oil squirters are the main difference. They also mentioned changing rods and pistons to make a turbo block which is correct, but you can run boost on a N/A block just don't go above 15psi or it will blow the wrist pins.

OP, I ran a motor that was cracked like you describe. I don't think it's a huge deal.

As far as n/t engines go, the block is the same only it isn't machined for squrters. you can easily do that tho. My last motor was an n/t block that I added squirters in.

The crank and rods are exactly the same. The wrist pins are the same as some turbo engines.

Finally, there is no 15psi limit to a n/t shortblock. I used run lots more than that on my old n/t stock shortblock before. It was fine.

The bore are a little smaller since in N/A form the piston to wall clearance doesn't have to be as big as the turbo stuff. You would have to have the block at least machined. But it makes it easier to run stock size bore pistons.

The other difference is the knock sensor port is usually blocked off. You'll have to drill and retap the port.
