well this is my first post on the forum, so whats up guys? i have a 95 eclipse with a 6 bolt swap me and a friend did. we worked out a lot of bugs like oil leaks, water leaks, and a pesky misfire. the problem that it has is that is is running lean. ithe manifold gets red hot after beating on it for a while. i am using the stock turbo set up by the way. (T25). the car runs fine and pulls good up to redline. i have a air/fuel blinky blinky gauge and that never says that it is lean. i know it only runs off of O2 voltage but i suppose its something to take into consideration. there is no signs of vacumm leaks and everything seems well. i am not too sure where to go from this except its running lean and id sure like to fix it. well thanks for any replys.

the manifold always gets hot no matter what. drive it on the free way at night pull over and open the hood and it will be glowing red. its normal. i had a guy tell me that the manigold glows because the car was running lean......man the bs you believe when your first learning. n e ways the car is fine and it's not running lean. unless you have a datalogger or something like that, which is telling you it's running lean.

here you go. this is on vfaq.com

My exhaust manifold/turbocharger housing glows red at night! Is there a fix?

No, this is normal. Exhaust gas temperatures on DSMs range from about 775 degC to 825 degC on-highway, depending on whether you are within or over the speed limit. Most materials start to get 'red' hot at about 800 degrees C. The only solution to this 'problem' is to take it easy on the throttle.

really? it never did that before when i had the 7 bolt motor in there. the temp gauge never moves from when the t stat opens so i guess thats good its not over heating. ive never seen something literally red hot like that. im a pretty noob to cars but i can honestly say i learn quickly. i got through the motor swap and built my motor after all :). thanks for the input

alright sounds good. vfaq is a good place and ive been there quite a few times. i shoulda checked before posting. thanks
