ok so before i get bashed i have been doing research on this topic but i still have a few questions.

i am trying to get a parts list together before i start just buying things. but here is my issue, at my house i have a 6 bolt bare block. so i would need EVERYTHING. so i am looking to purchase either a running 6 bolt long block for hopefully cheapish so i can get all the hardware and usable parts for the build. or, i am looking to buy an already assembled bottom end with all timing components and such. since, either of those options ends up saving me money in the end b/c in order to piece everything together i am going to spend about a grand in misc parts and hardware.

now, as for my question. i am going to be building a 2.3l stroker 6 bolt. now, i found on the classifieds a guy selling a 2.3l 7 bolt long block with everything. now, would i be able to take certain parts off of that motor to build my 6 bolt?

rods, pistons, crank, crank caps, oil pick-up, pulleys, sprokets, and hopefully other things.

i know i would have to buy other timing components such as the tensioner and such. but if someone could tell me if i could reuse the components above that would be a great help. thanks for any help i really appreciate it.

Nope. You will need 6 bolt stuff.
Take your time and do it right. You will be money ahead.

Why not buy the 7 bot and use that? Ive read that once u stroke the 4g63 it virtually eliminates the failure of the thrust bearing...dont quote me on that though

hmm, i will look into it. thanks for the thought though.

and i forgot to ask one question if you guys don't mind answering one more.

is there a difference between the years for a 6 bolt? like if i build lets say a '91 6 bolt block, but have certain parts off of lets say a '92 or '90 6 bolt, is there a difference?

i started to read somewhere that early 6 bolts are different than late 6 bolts. or it could just be that i am mixing up early 7 bolts with late 7 bolts because i know those are slightly different. hmm thanks again guys all of this is greatly appreciated since i am a newb in this type of build. but damn i cannot wait!!!!!!
