After nine long months it's almost there. This will be sort of a progress thread/tech thread because I'll include some information on how I'm doing it.

First of all I am doing this all with the transmission still in the car. You can see in the pictures what I left on and off the engine. Started out by taking the passenger side hub assembly off. Took off the downpipe and subframe. Detached the tranny from the mounts (wood board across the engine bay with a strap to hold it up) and moved it as far left as possible. Moved the AC compressor to the firewall and held it up with a rope. Installed engine. :) Looks so much easier in typing. The hardest part was lining the tranny with the engine, but it worked. Easier if you line it up and screw the bolts it a little bit.

But that's all I've got so far. Long day took about 5 hours, but I also did a few other misc things. Engine probably took 3 or so. I'll keep updating as I progress.

Side note: I'm using a Fidanza flywheel and the stock 7 bolt flywheel bolts.

Looks good so far! Why did you choose to not run any sort of timing cover?

Actually just left it off because I installed the oil filter housing after I got the engine in. I was afraid the housing getting in the way. So I'll be running the covers for sure. Wouldn't want anything getting in my new motor. :thumb:

Why did you anodize the flywheel. You should use longer bolts for it.

I didn't anodize the flywheel, it came like that from Fidanza. I hate the color of it, but it's going to be in the tranny anyway.

The stock bolts work just fine. They had plenty of thread left and torqued down perfectly. I'll be replacing the clutch in a few months and I'll make sure they havent backed out. I'm guessing you used the longer ones, but did you even try the stock ones?

Yes I tried the stock ones, but I wasn't comfortable with the amount of threads holding it.

LOL. I've used stock bolts before, without a problem, although I now use the longer ones from FP. The swap looks great man! Hope you enjoy it. What are your plans for the electrical aspect of it? Are you planning on using DSMlink to help with CEL's?

Sorry if that came out like "did you even try." I wasn't meaning to be rude :thumb:

Thanks! I will be running DSMlink as soon as I save up some $$$. School takes a lot of it. :notgood:

I can't wait to finish it!!! :p
