Hello,

I'm in the process of swaping a 6 bolt in my 2g.

I think the previous owner had a 1g intermediate shaft, since the bolt pattern didn't match. The block in the picture is a 7 bolt.

Should I use the 1g intermediate shaft or do I need one from a 2g?

thanks
Cesar.

Get you a 1g. I had a 7 bolt in mine and did a 6 bolt swap and the shaft was the same. I don't think he changed the shaft cause the 1g shaft on 7 bolt and 6bolt are the same. So if he did change it to a 1g the shaft should work and the 6bolt.

Yeah I know this thread is way old, but I want an answer. The 2G intermediate shaft doesn't bolt up correctly to the to the back of the 6 bolt block. So I got a 1G shaft because I didn't feel comfortable only having one bolt in. The one I got was from a 91 auto. After putting it in it doesn't seem to fit right. It seems to be angled slightly and leaks fluid outta the trans. I replaced the seal too because I had one laying around. Are the auto and manual intermediate shafts different? Someone please help me out here.

Mine wouldn't bolt up. The right bolt on the bracket went in fine, but the left one wasn't even close to a hole. The 6 bolt shaft bolts up but it's from a auto so it's kinda angled and leaking fluid outta the tranny. Not good. How did you bolt your's up? I followed the directions for everything on Magnus's site.

did you keep the A/C compressor bracket?

The right bracket that would bolt up would definetly come from a 6 bolt 5speed AWD.
If both bolts bolt directly to the block, I don't think the angle would cause it to leak.

Yeah I kept the bracket. I guess you would have to see how it's sitting in the transmission seal. It's angled just enough to let oil seep by. I do have a 6 bolt 5 speed AWD Intermediate shaft on the way to replace the auto one. Should be here today. The shafts looked exactly the same, I should have known the auto ones were different.

To clarify this came up in search results 2g 94.01-96.05 are the same p/n as 1g intermediate shaft brackets after that they change I don't know what the physical different is on the shaft.

*Yes I know this is an old thread.
