2G Intermediate Shaft Issues

Okay so after a long a grueling process of assembling the driver side axle assembly and then attempting to install (learned the hard way not to hit the CV axle with a metal hammer, thank you RockAuto), I keep running into the same issue with the intermediate shaft.

I will insert it into the transmission, and then twist it and push until I feel it slide in even further. I then check to see if the bolt holes line up, and they don't. I have a 6 bolt swapped 2G with the correct bracket around the intermediate axle, but every time its about a half an inch off. I am completely out of ideas, except for one. The intermediate shaft is made of steel, and while steel doesn't rust, you can clearly see which area has been exposed to the elements. Whenever I push the axle in I can still see a bit of the shiny, unexposed area that I would think would be inside of the transmission, but time after time it's still there.

I've checked that thread out and I think all that it would do is confirm my theory of that if the clean portion of the intermediate shaft is being shown, than the shaft isn't all the way in.

Then that raises another question, how do I get it in?

As hinted at before, I literally destroyed the end of a CV axle due to hammering on it. If hammering on it with a legitimate metal hammer doesn't work then would a rubber mallet? And is there anything inside of the transmission withholding it from sealing?

Take the intermediate assembly off and make sure its seated completely. There is a bearing and seals with another c clip. Have you confirmed that this is correct. It looks like its not seated correctly?

Just to confirm before I start prying at things, you're talking about where the bracket and the wierd triangular neck are correct?

It doesn’t look like you have the correct seal on the tranny side. Bracket side the shaft doesn’t look seated

The triangular bearing holder looks like it needs to slide towards the transmission further is what the guys above are getting at.

Yes, that bracket isnt seated on that shaft. It needs to be seated properly. Like i said... its an assembly, the shaft sits in a bearing and has a c clip

Okay so the assembly is torn apart and after cleaning the grease off, this is what is left. I have no idea whether this is correct or not...

I went through and seated the bracket all the way, it now will install. Thanks so much!
