Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of installing my transmission and doing the awd equal shaft mod. The trans is a 90 FWD, built by tre with a Quaife LSD. I got a 90-96 manual intermediate shaft but when I try to bolt it down, it seems to be too high for the holes to align. Horizontally they line up great but to get the bolts started I'd have to pry down on the shaft. The transmission is fully bolted to the block. I do have the bracket slightly rotated back to show how far off the bolts are but the bracket does sit flush against the block.

Pull the spacer out, rotate the bracket so its against the block and see if the bolt lines up. The picture looks like the bolt is pointed up above the hole, and rotating the bracket might align them.

They don't line up even without the spacer. It's most of the bolt holes with too high. I verified using a mirror with the bracket laying against the block. I took the picture this way just to kind of show what was happening.

Just wanted to update this post. Still didn't figure out why the dsm intermediate shaft wouldn't fit but I did get ahold of a 89 colt gt shaft and it bolts up perfect.

Your first one looks like a AWD intermediate shaft, by the bracket. I haven't seen the other shaft before but all of mine are AWD.

I also noticed that!!! Are they the same length? I wonder if the mounting bracket shaft size out there is the same? If so, that is a beefier axle and just change the brackets for us AWD guys. Hmm :hmm:

The length should be very close because Colt guys used these shafts with DSM AWD axles and they fit the same as using GT CV axles. I can probably get a measurement next time I'm working on it to verify. The GT bracket vs DSM shouldn't make a difference because the 4g63 has bolt holes for either one.
