I don't plan to do anything to the block, at this point. As I am pretty sure it is fine. I understand I would have to have them both machined for a MLS. As it is though. What are the suggestions for a replacement with only a head resurface in mind?

So far as headbolts? Should I go with ARP studs?

I have been running fel pro composites for years and I prefer them over MLS. If something goes wrong, i'd rather lose a $35 gasket and a weekend than thousands of dollars on a motor. For reference, I beat the snot out of my car nearly every weekend, 30psi on a 60lb/min turbo and never had the composite fail on me.

Composite HG
ARP head studs

Damn you beat me too it. I agree 100%, think of a head gasket as a fuse... The fuse will go before an expensive bottom end will. A felpro composite with ARP studs will hold plenty of power. Not to mention a composite will be more forgiving with any imperfections in the surface of the deck and head if you didn't get it resurfaced.

Sweet, makes sense. I am sure it would be fine with the small plans I have. So a Fel Pro composite gasket with studs. And I understand their is a difference between the 6 and 7 bolt motors, so I need to make sure which I get? Thanks!

Basically, they 35.00 or whatever it is Fel Pro, clean surfaces and some studs.

The HG's were even cheaper from rockauto. I think I paid like $11-$12 each from there.

Agreed, When rock auto had their clearance of 91 laser parts (A fellow DSMer posted the link on here a few months ago) I ended up grabbing 4 or 5 of them among other things for the clearance prices.

Yes you need a 6 bolt head gasket. And ensure you torque the bolts properly using arp lube, proper pattern and torque the bolts in stages.
