6 bolt FWD engine to 6 bolt AWD tranny

So I have heard so many mixed responses to this topic lets see if we can come to a clear answer. My question is that I have a 91 Talon TSi awd and I want to rebuild the motor. Now the thing is I found another motor here from a 90 ESi. Now since I want to rebuild all the internals anyway im assuming the blocks are the same so this should work (Tell me if I am wrong here). Anyway would this ESi engine bolt to my AWD tranny?

Are you sure its an esi? There usally a 1.8 motor...

Long as its a n/t 4G63 they are the same block's. Piston's have a higher CR in the n/t's. I cant see a reason why it wouldn't bolt up to your AWD tranny since they are the same block's (n/t 4G63).

Yeah I'm possitive its a N/T 4G63 so then if I rebuild the whole engine with forged rods, pistons, crank, injectors, and so on, Then I can slap on the turbo and bolt it to my AWD tranny? Would it be any easier to rebuild a 4G63T rather than rebuilding the N/T 4G63 and turning it into the turbo engine?

Since your replacing all internals it shouldn't be anymore difficult. Of course the N/A version does lack piston oilers, but most say they're not necessary w/ forged pistons. Also, in case you don't know motor brackets & mounts do change between AWD & FWD.

The blocks are identical externally, there shouldn't be any forseen problems dropping that rebuilt six-bolt in. All of your mounting brackets can be moved over with no problem.

No, the blocks are the same. Only the mounts vary. Just giving you a heads, so when you drop the motor in you'll know why the mounts don't line up

Edit: Yes! What Quasimondo said transfer the brackets from the AWD to the new block

Ok, awesome then, Thanks for the help everyone. The reason I brought this up is I know of a talon in the city that got in a minor fender bender and insurance is going to write it off, and the guy says its too much trouble so I was thinking of buying it, using some body parts and now rebuild that engine on the side. So thanks again for the help everyone.
