6 bolt and & 7 bolt head diffrences

I have searched for this answer high and low so i hope some one can help me.
i have a bare 6 bolt head and a complete running 7 bolt head.
I am curious to know if i can use the cams, rockers, valves and springs from the 7 bolt to the 6 bolt, and if there will be any modifications i will need to do.

The cams may have a slightly different grind.

Look behind the #1 cam journal for a cast in letter, then look in http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...5135-camshaft-identification-information.html

Valves, springs, retainers, locks are the same and interchange.

Make sure the valves all have 6T on them, those are the factory installed valve.

Spend a few dollars and get a new set of valve springs, due to age and mileage, most all the valve springs are weak and in need of replacement. You should be able to get a set of BC1100 for $100 or less shipped to your door.

Hopefully you have new valve stem seals, if not get the vition blue ones.

Since you have a bare slab of a 6 bolt head, check the guides for cracks, it may have suffered bent valves. If the guides are cracked, they should be replaced.

Keep in mind that a 6 bolt head will have slightly larger head bolt holes in order to fit the 12mm bolts instead of the 11mm on the 7 bolt, as long as you have reference pins on your block it should not make any difference (I would think it could actually help with oil getting to the lifters when converting to ARP studs).

Also, I am assuming that both heads are 1g, or you would have to handle the different size intake ports as well.

Last, the two most outer exhaust studs on the 6 bolt will be M8 instead of the M10 on the 7 bolt one.

I believe that wold be all.

im using a 6 bolt bare head on a 6 bolt bottom end and i already have ARP head studs. i would just be using the internals from my 7 bolt head.
