Hey guys, just finished my 5 speed swap on my 94 Talon using a Turbo FWD Transmission (F5M33) and linkages, shift housing, and brackets from a 1990, and running stock turbo clutch.

I have all gears but needs some fine tuning. 2nd gear grinds but i knew it would (hence why i got the tranny for 30$) but I also have issues with it grinding and or not going into gear at higher rpm shifts (anything above 4.5K) I even rev matching while using the clutch at same time and still grinds.

Tried bleeding the clutch several different ways (each of these methods i was told to try by different people and the 3rd one was a how to video on utube so i did try some searching)

1: opening the slave cyl bleed valve, and pumping the clutch, then closing it, and pumping it again.
2: Compressing the slave cyl by hand then opening the bleed valve letting it bleed out, then closing it. and letting go.
3: Compressing the clutch pedal and holding it there, then compressing the slave cyl by hand, then opening the bleed valve and and letting it bleed out, then closing it again.

I adjusted the Master Clutch Cylinder as far out as it would go and it helped the most, but still seems It could use some more of something...

Clutch feels pretty good but maybe it could be a little stiffer?

I'm thinking the grinding problem is a mix between the clutch and the and the linkages needing to be properly adjusted (i have the 90 linkages which have the adjusters on both linkages)z

pointers, tips, tricks, corrections help me out here.

Edit: My pedal assembly and Clutch Master Cyl is out of a Galant VR4 if that makes any difference...everything bolted up directly tho...

I would check the linkages, on the shifter base too....that could cause some rough gear changes.

If only one gear is grinding then it's an internal problem, not a hydraulic problem. 2nd gear synchros sounds like your problem and is common in many manual cars. You'll need the synchros replaced.

I already told you I knew 2nd gear grinds before I installed the tranny and that was the reasoning I got the transmission for dirt cheap.
and I'm not worried about 2nd gear, because its just a little tiny hair grind when i go into 2nd

I was talking about the other gears

it doesn't matter what gear I'm in, if I'm getting on it and go to shift at 4.5K or higher it will just grind when i go into next gear and usually not even go into the gear.

I wanna know what's causing this.

Clutch grabs really really good so I don't think its a matter of it slipping.

So that means either the entire tranny is on its way out, you dont have enough fluid or the shifter cables need adjusting.

So no one has any tips on adjusting the linkages properly?
