I have a 96 GSX. My auto tranny is near death and I need to urgently look into doing a 5 speed swap. Does anyone know where I can look to pick up a kit to do the swap, or is anyone selling a kit. Need links, and prices please. Thanks guys. DSM PoWaH!!:dsm:

There's no kit. You'd have to source the parts yourself, or I think there might be one shop that does it, for like 4-6k. Not worth it in my opinion. Search around, there's a lot of threads on this including which parts you'd need.

6k? damn, whats that 4k in labor? LOL, trans, clutch, flywheel, rest are all junkyard parts such as plates and lines, etc..

i have a 98 AWD auto and i was looking to swap it to 5 spd and i went to 3 local shops (2 of which were DSM Specialty..) and i even called Shephard racing to see how much they would charge to do the swap and not including their tranny costs it was 5k and that's about the same quote that i got from the other 3 local shops so if you're doing it be prepared to spend some paper..

My personal recommendation would be what i'm looking at which is building the tranny through IPT located in Jersey. If you're doing it yourself just look around for their parts, you can go straight to the website www.importperformancetransmissions.com and order or you can go through slowboy, whoever..but why spend 5 or 6 grand to swap it to 5 spd when you can spend 3 grand to have yourself a nice strong auto that will run just as strong? (except a 5 spd is always a lot more fun to drive..)

check out their stall converter and the translab shift kit which only runs about $80..it's a nice add in for a cheap price..best of luck..
