Ok, In my 97 eclipse with NVT-350 I have the following problem.
4th and 5th gear continue to pop out unless I hold the gear regardless of the following:
The tranny was opened, the syncros keys on 3-4/5-R gears were replaced with their springs. The shift arms were inspected and they still were in good condition as well as the Sync rings. All the gears are in good shape, no broken off teeth.
Once re-installed on the car, one shift cable was replaced that had bent and the boot was torn up. The TOB was replaced.
The car shifts into the gears very smooth, and has no problem on 1st,2nd,3rd and R gear. They all stay in. I do have to say that before replacing the parts mentioned above, it needed a ton of pressure to hold the 4th and 5th gear in place. But now its barely needs any, and it will hold the gear but if I apply to much load with the gas peddle it pops out.
I'm out of ideas and will to continue guessing.
Any Ideas as to what might be the culprit will be greatly appreciated?
