You have to gewt custom pistons or rods i forgot which one becuase of the differance in deck hight between the two heads. But magnus sells them so that's where you might want to look with any really technical questions.

Well, I would use my own block and crank, BUT i don't want to have any down time, u know this is my only car. I can't drive if I have my engine being worked on, right?! So I will need new custom pistons and rods, i didn't know that. Well I was gonna change it out anywayz. But yeah, sure I will keep you guys posted.
 Oh...one more thing the block i was gonna buy got sold to someone else, can any of you guys help me out. I am located in florida and don't want to have to spend too much money just for the block, if you can tell me where I can get one or if you know someone, let me know. If I can't get another 4g64, it is gonna hold up my whole project. Thanks in advance guys.

check out a local junk yard you can always pull one out of another car that has that engine. In the extreme tuner forum there was a thread about this and what cars had what engines. I'm pretty sure some of the galants had the 2.4 in them and that can work too. And as for the custom rods and pistons not totaly custom but they are special made. check out the magnus motorsports sight lots of good info there. And i'm sure they will answer any questions you have about this. I'll try and find the link to the thread in the extreme tuner forum.

there you go this is probably the most helpful link i could get you because it is only about the 7 bolt 4g64 which is what you have. It is though a bottom end swap so you will just have to do the oposite basically but since you are building an engine outside of the car first it really doesnt matter. It gets pretty technincal so be prepared to have to read shit over and over again cause you can get pretty confused reading this shit.

Hey, thanx I will look into finding an engine in a junk yard or sumthin. Yeah, thanx for posting the thread, but unfortuately i am not mechanically inclined enough to do it myself, i am having someone do it for me. They call him the LancerMan and he is a DSMGod. I am trying to get the engine workin good with the least money, so I can spend the bulk of the money reinforcing it with parts, so that it can withstand the turbo boost.

no problem. Ya with something like this unless you are absolutely posotive of what you are doing i would take it to someonewho knows what they are doing. Ya build the engine then you will have a beast of a car.

Hey brotha thanx for the link, I am trying to get a hold of the guy. Hey, I asked earlier but did anyone answer the question bout the suspension i asked?! Which is better, do you prefer?

Hey, just thought I would let you guys know that I am going to pick up m project block this weekend. It is a 4g64 block with 64k miles. Now all I need to do is find the 2g head for it, so I can get the swap done. I need your advice, i am definetly puttin a turbo on it, should I wait until I have the turbo before i install my built engine or should I just put it in then get the turbo put on later. In other words does it make that much of a differance in the instalaltion of the turbo if the engine is in the car or out?

I say wait that say all the headache is at the same time. If you install the engine then do the turbo that will be two pretty big projects. If you do it all at once then its only one big project and you will only not have your car once not twice.

Hey, I need you guys opinion. My friend is selling a T66 turbo for $500 dollars. It is in good shape. It is just the turbo. Do you think I should buy this or not?! I have seen a bigger turbo set-up on a 2.0 eclipse. So I know that it can hold it. But what do you guys think?

well what doyou want out of this car?? For me perosnally the biggest turbo i will ever go would be a 20g and i probably will only go with the big16g ported and clipped. Its all up to you, if you get that turbo be prepared to drop alot of cash on supporting mods for it cause that thing is fukcing huge. But since you will have the extra displacement you could do it and still have damn good spool up. It all depends on the size of your wallet. Hell for that price you could buy the turbo and then sell it for more later.

Well, yeah, I was thinkin I could just buy it and sell it. So you think a 20g would be good for it. Thanx for the info. I will keep that in mind.

I have 90% of the parts I need for my 1g head swap. I jst need to get some parts from a DOHC 4g64 and I can have the job done.
P.S. I have a 90 GS-T Automatic that needs to be parted out. It is a complete car, only thing gone is the engine. If you need any parts let me know. The interior is in GREAT condition. It is the black interior. So if you need something let me know, make me an offer and we can make a deal.

you got the radiator? If so what condition and how much shipped to 94070.

Good to see that your actually updating us most popel don't do that. So what do you have left to get? and are you still planning on turbo or just head swap? later.
-zach-

Yeah, I am goin turbo. I am takin the turbo head off the '90. I have to get some pistons, Exhaust Cam Sprocket, Intake Cam Sprocket, Cylinder Head Gasket, Valve Timing Belt, Cylinder Head Bolts, Sparkplugs, intercooler, ICP, Downpipe, BOV, and i think thats it. I am going to have to wait until I get all those parts before I can start. So hopefully I can get them soon.

hey i have 4g64 and you can get wiesco forged pistons, i built my own cold air intake from a 4g63 engine, racing chip, all along from 141hp i have about 173hp. also for anyone who reads this, is the 4g63t a direct bolt in as far as motor mounts on the 4g64 because im getting one for more power:dsm:

well first it say you have an eclipse n/t not the syder. so if you have a convertable change your profile, if you don't ahve the spyder then you have the 420a engine. As for a direct bolt in if you have the sypder only the back motor mount needs to be change but you can use the rear motor mount form an2g turbo car and it will work.

thanks for the motor help, but when i registered i didnt see a place for spyder non-turbos, so if you have a problem with me having n/t on there oh well get over it!:dsm:

I personally don't care, but when someone goes to help you and it says that you have a n/t and not n/t syder they might give you the wrong advice. That's also why you should keep your mod list updated becuase that gives someone helping you a way to tell if it might have somehting to do with your mods or whatnot. Anyway back to the original topic.

dude i am so happy!! i was getting pissed cuz there arent very many things i can do to the 4g64, until now...

how much have you spent thus far? how much do you plan on spending?

after reading this thread i decided i wanna turbo my spyder! where did you get all your information on turboing our engine? lmore specifically how did u figure out what parts you had to have?

i am especially curious to see how reliable your car is after the upgrade, it is your daily driver?

there should be a forum for n/t spyders since they are so unique to other dsm's.... and this thread should be made a sticky..

good luck on finishing your project..

if you go into the n/t to turbo conversion forumn therre should be a thread that is stickied that is titled want to turbo your n/t 2.4? <- or something along the lines of that if not d a search for something like that and it will come up. It has everyhting you need to know how to do to get it done. Some guy did it and made a website for it including step by step instructions.

Hey Guys, Its been awhile. I haven't been here for awhile. Well, the car is still in the same condition it was before (due to lack of funds.) Will hope to start soon again with my mods. I will update frequent. I need to do a complete overhaul on my engine. Does anyone know where I can find some good internals, possibly forged like a kit for a good price? It is the 4g64 engine.

Just wondering BUT isn't a 2.4L from a GS Spyder a Neon motor? Try Hahn Racecraft they have LOTS of stuff for Neons.

no, it is a 4g64. the same engine found in various galants, and other mitsubishi cars. The 420a which is found in the n/t hardtops(i.e. Rs, Gs) are similar to the neon motor but not quite the same. I don't feel like getting into the details but they are not the same just similar.
