ok so I know this will be weird(nobody has probably done this), but I want to drop my running 4g64 motor from my wrecked 98 gs spyder, into my non running 97 gst hatch do I have to swap harnesses? I know the Ecu will need to be swapped. However the gst Ecu is the gold one not the black box, and my 64 Ecu is a black box, would the gst harness work on the gs black box? And if I have to swap the engine harness, the 64 harness won't mate to the bay harness on the driver side by the fuse box so I'm assuming that will have to be changed, then would I have to go back farther and change the dash harness? Do I just need to swap the entire harness from the gs into the gst? Or can I get away with just the engine harness?

The first pic is the bay gst harness, the plug by the fuse box, the second is the 4g64 harness, they are both male plugs the gst bay harness has 12 pin outs and the 64 plug has 11 can I just plice and hardwire to make it work?

Here's a quick look at the A-32 front wiring harness and control wiring harness connector for the two harnesses. I didn't see anything for pin 5 of the '97 turbo harness, but I might have overlooked it.

'97 Turbo Harness Pin-Out
1 - White w/ green stripe, pin 1 of A/C dual pressure switch to pin 1 of A/C Refrigerant temperature switch
2 - Green, A/C Compressor Relay to pin 22 of ECU
3 - Blue w/ white stripe, Power Steering Pressure switch to pin 37 of ECU
4 - White, pin 33 of ECU to pin 1 of Alternator connector
5 - Not Found
6 - Red w/ black stripe, Fusible Link 4 to pin 3 and 4 of MFI Relay
7 - Blue w/ black stripe, A/T only, Radiator Fan Motor to pin 5 of Radiator Fan Relay (LO2)
8 - Black, pin 4 of Radiator Fan Motor to grounding location 3.
9 - Green, pin 41 of ECU to pin 4 of Alternator connector
10 - Green w/ red, pin 3 of A/C Compressor Clutch Relay to pin 2 of A/C Refrigerant Temperature Switch and pin 45 of ECU
11 - Green w/ black stripe, pin 1 of Radiator Fan relay (LO1) to pin 21 of ECU
12 - Green w/ orange stripe, pin 1 of Radiator Fan Relay (HI), also pin 1 of Radiator Fan Relay (LO2 for A/T), and pin 1 of Condenser Fan Relay (HI) to pin 20 of ECU

12 - Green, pin 41 of ECU to pin 4 of Alternator connector

It looks like all the same signals are there, you'd just have to depin the connector and repin it in the right orientation, cleaner than cutting and resplicing. I haven't looked so I don't know if there are any other issues at other connectors.

The small terminals on that connector match the ones used in several other spots on the 2G, so if you need to replace them, I can get spares for you.

Thanks man this has helped out a lot I can color match and be good.

Thanks man but I already found a 12 pin out female and male plug Ima put in its place to keep it neat.
