I am soon to be replacing the trans in my 97 GSX and I found the best price from a place called JDM Engine Depot in NJ. Anyone bought anything from them? Anyways, the trans they have are JDM from 95-99 4G63T. I always thought the engine was just 4G63, and the T must just stand for turbo. Will this match up with my car? Oh, and it comes with a transfer case and shift linkage. Here is the link.....

yea..the t just means turbo..cause they made the 4g63 in a n/a version too..it should all hook up since the tranny and motor are the same model
 
This tranny must have came out of an evo III because there is no jdm eclipse. So, if so then no it will not work.

Yeah, I was skeptical about the trans being JDM cause the eclipse is and American car, but he said that they made the car over there and it was called a Talon. :confused:
 
Well if that is the kind of information they are giving out I don't think you should do any business with them.

There is a really great page that compares all of the gear ratios between different years and cars but I forgot it. Maybe someone has it.

The key thing to remember with AWD is that your final drive must match with your rear end gearing or you will kill the center diff in no time.

You are exactly right, however I am sure they cant tell me the gear ratios, but what they did tell me about the trans and transfer case is that it is JDM, 23 spline, 4G63T and they said it would fit my application. But they are salesmen. Does anyone know of anywhere in the mid Atlantic where I could get a trans for under 1000
 
Thats a good idea, it only has 800 miles on it and a gear broke inside from normal driving. Third and forth disappeared. Good old Mitsu RM parts.
 
Thanks for the help guys. I am going to pull mine out and see about just getting it rebuilt to stage 2 with TRE.
