i have pulled my engine already and been taking it part little by little. i just need some help and advise what i should do for this build? i want to be in the 500-550hp range?

Building a 500-550 hp dsm takes time and money. You would need a 6 bolt block 89-92 yr, forged pistons and rods a clean stock crank (it would be nice to have it polished and magnaflux) for the head new ss valves, aftermarket springs and titanium retainers, stage port out, bronze guids,3 angle valve job also 272 cams, a transimision build, plus your bolt on's.

i got alot of good ideas from the build journal section on the forms. i started reading other peoples build goals and what they had done as of upgrades on internals and ect...just depends on your budget.

do i really need to do a 6 bolt swap? i have been asking some people and they have had great results with the 7 bolt. and it is a updated bock from the 6 bolt bock so i wanted to keep it.

No, you don't need a 6 bolt engine. The 7 bolt is as strong, or stronger than a 6 bolt with the same internals.

please do not give out false info.

To the OP, no you don't need to do a 6 bolt swap. If you are truly worried about crank walking. Then just get a revised 97-99 7 bolt block.

im not worried about crank walk at all. i have been considering the 97-99 engine also. but i know the 7 bolt is as strong or even stronger. what is my question is what should i do for a rebuild? i have read alot of peoples forms and they have helped also. i blew my turbo and thats why i am doing a rebuild. i also messed up my old head. i have a new one though
