Hi all. My name is Paul and i'm from Poland. I just done 4G63 swap into 92 Mitsubishi Colt. Maybe word "done" isnt right cause i cant start it up. I have problems with wires so i think i have to ask some wisemen from here ;)

And there are two plugs from Colt i have to connect:

I found B-23 pin 11, 10 and B-22 pin 4 in 4G63 harness (c-59 pin 5, 6 and 2). For now i have these 3 wires only but i thought i can start it. I dont hear fuel pump is working and starter too. Any help with that?

ps. big thanks to 19Eclipse90 for his 1990 Engine Control Wiring Harness topic

I think i have to mess up something in A-10 plug (quite funny - female/male connectors are oposite in 4G92 and 4G63 so i had two female plugs after harness swap) http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/152709624-post4.html or i missed some wires... That electrical situation makes me feel retarded....

For now i have:
B-22 pin 4 Ingnition Switch -> C-59 pin 5
B-23 pin 10 Starting Relay wire -> C-59 pin 2
B-23 pin 11 Fuel Pump power -> C-59 pin 6

and C-63 connected.

Ok, one question. In c-59 plug i have:
1 – W, white – runs from the 30A (IGN) fuse on the positive battery terminal to pin 6 of the Ignition Switch
2 – BY, black w/ yellow stripe – runs from pin 3 of the Starting Relay to pin 9 of the MFI Control Relay
3 – L, blue – runs from pin 2 of Defogger Timer (rear) to Pin 3 of Defogger Relay (rear)
4 – YW, yellow w/ white stripe – runs from pin 18 of the ECU to pin 59 of the Gauge Cluster
5 – BW (large), black w/ white stripe – runs from pin 4 of Ignition Switch to pin 110 of ECU
6 – BW (small), black w/ white stripe – runs from pin 2 of the Fuel Pump to pin 13 of the ECU as well as pin 2 of the MFI Control Relay;

Wire nr 1 - i dont know where i can connect that.... In my B-22 plug (from Mirage) is wire called "Ignition Switch IG1" (B-W) and i connected it to c-59 pin 5 called as above. But what with that pin 1? Is this my missing constant 12V?

On the Lancer manual I have it is B-02.

Check it in your manuals.

How it goes from the battery to your switch to your 1G C-59 plug, only you can do it... :sneaky:

Ok, i found my missing constant power.... there he is! Someone cut it... There is a big red wire but i dont know what is it. Also, that constant power wire was in some plug or it is just cable from fuse box?

This is a A-10 plug from 4G63 harness, for starting i think.

Also i have constant power from 4G92 harness so a little step forward i think.

EDIT:
Starter is running but a fuel pump has no power.

in your pic above, below the multitester, that white wire should have continuity to this pin:

Thanks mate, so this cutted wires were from fuse box, without any plug. I know what i have to do with that.

About another cutted - that white fat wire is "runs from the 30A (IGN) fuse on the positive battery terminal to pin 6 of the Ignition Switch" from c-59 (i dont need that i think, couse mirage ignition switch has own power) and that red one is... i dont know. I have to check why i dont have any 12V on fuel pump. I have all free day for that ;) Also, funny thing - my starter works when i have ignition switch on a power, middle position, but is dead after "a full turn"...

I checked connected wires and i'm sure everything is ok - except A-10 plug. I have to find a oposite plug in 4G92 harness and i think this is A-09 connector. What i'm looking for?

A-10 4G63 -- A-09 4G92
1. R -> 1.
2. BY -> 2.
3. RL -> 3.
4. BY -> 4.

Also i found that:

On that diagram wires are connected quite different then i have...

The diagram you showed above is the same as the wiring diagram I have.

Wire colors may be different, but the pin addresses are the same.

If I were you, I'd trace each wire from both ends of its connection.

Still let us know how it turns out. :thumb:

For sure! All this mess is only couse of poor engine harness i bought, with cutted wires, connectors... I'm waiting for my friend who will fix that ;) I thought about some new fuel pump harness with custom switch but i want all looks like OEM stuff.

Just do the fuel pump rewire so your guaranteed max power and no b.s. STM has a kit for $30, eBay like $25, most vendors on here sell the rewire kit. If you ask me its a must all my cars have it done! ;) keep at it bro car is looking good and once your running you will have a blast in that thing!! :) 4g63, turbo, small light car high HP= adrenaline rush and big smiles!! Haha

I will reply more soon guys but i need one thing - pin number from ecu where is "-" (minus) to fuel pump relay. Via MFI relays diagram i have now:
1 - no power (i need 12V for fuel pump here)
5 - 12V (but i want "-" from ecu?") that wire is connected to pin 56 ecu.
7 - 12V - thats good.

I think i made it right, to 56 pin but... how is it possible i get 12V from here?

Ok - i made custom wire for fuel pump and....

so is it running now?

pin 7 will supply (-) to fuel pump relay coil.
pin 3 will supply (+).

if you follow (1), the BW wire form relay pin 3, it will go to IG1 and splice to pin 110 of ECU.

Yes mate, its running :) I dont know why my ecu giving me 12V on pin 56 cause in diagrams there should be "ground" for relay, but i dont care - i made rewire mod.

Once again - thanks for helping :)

Now its time to clean all wires, to install exhaust manifold, bonnet etc. etc. I have many work to do ;)

Ok, i need one more help - front wipers. There are 4 wires in C-58 plug but i dont know how i have to connect them...

C-58 - 4G63:
1 – LW, blue w/ white stripe – pin 4 of Wiper Motor (front) to pin 7 of Steering Column Switch
2 – L, blue (FSM shows the male side to be LG, blue w/ green stripe) – pin 3 of Wiper Motor (front) to pin 8 on inside junction block (fuse 9, "Wiper")
10 – LR, blue w/ red stripe - pin 1 of Wiper Motor (front) to pin 3 of Steering Column Switch
11 – LB, blue w/ black stripe - pin 2 of Wiper Motor (front) to pin 4 of Steering Column Switch

B-23 - Mirage:
1 - LB - Wiper motor - high
2 - WB - Wiper motor - power
3 - BW - Wiper motor - intermittent
9 - L - Wiper motor - low

Mirage ----- DSM
LB ----- LB
WB ----- L
BW ----- LR
L ----- LW

I may have interchanged the LOW and INT so check it yourself

Thanks mate - its working! Once again, big thanks for all your help. I think i have to send you some european gift ;) Shaq O'neal already knows what is "pierogi" and "kielbasa", do you? ;)

I think i done it ;) Everything is working, the "Borg" is running, i made custom mod to my tacho (to working with 4G63) and it's finish. Now it's time for T parts - in winter i think i will hear some "psssssssssssst" sound.

And some pictures with my car:

Hello again ;) I have question about checking computer errors. As i wrote before i had a very bad engine harness and i dont have a diagnostic plug. Is there any chance to check them directly from ecu? I found in c-61 connector pin 1 and 2 (self diagnostic output and diagnostic/data transfer select) but i dont know what i have to do with them... Any help?

And few words about my check engine error: i start the engine, its ok, rpms are good and after around 20 sec. ce is lighting up. If i stop the engine and start it again there is the same situation. After that error everything still is ok i think, the power is good.

pin 1 of the biggest among the three ECU connectors has a yellow wire.

hook this up with the red lead of an analog tester. black lead of the tester to body ground.

confirm the error code/s as per vfaq.

Ok, 31 - fixed. I bought used knock sensor (almost new) for 7$ ;) But i have bigger problems with 21 error. I bought a new temperature sensor, plug it and the same situation - check engine. Then i checked wires and i found that i dont have 5V power on it. I made custom wires, everything is ok now but i still have check engine with 21 error... I dont know how i can fix it cause now all wires look good for me, but i think this is some ecu problem... Any idea where i can check for problems?

Ok, i think i found something...
