4g63 engine and turbo kit questions

Hi everyone im new to dsm's but have some experience with modding cars. I just bought a 1990 eclipse gs with 180k miles and im going to get it compression tested here soon. If everything goes well im looking to boost it and had a couple questions. I found a ebay turbo kit for around 800 and im sure that cant include everything to properly boost a car. Price is a very big factor because im very strapped on cash so the cheaper the better and im not planning on boosting more then around 8psi. Just need some advice on the turbo kit and what i would so need for it to be complete. Here is the link.

Next set of questions is about the engine itself. I was wondering is there a horsepower limit on the stock parts before i have to change them out? For example i drive a 2005 volvo s40 and the connecting rods dont like to see over 300hp neither does my auto tranny.

If you arent scared about blowing up the turbo and doing possible damage to your motor, go for it

If you are not planning to boost more then 8psi, you dont need nothing bigger then a 14b or 16g

I would stay away from ebay turbos, when I was 16, I didnt know sheet about modding cars....bought a t3/t4 hybrid kit from ebay...and it was the worst thing I had ever done...that thing had massive shaft play after just a couple weeks of use, and didnt boost past 5 psi, and sometimes it would spike up or down.

Why go through the rough path, when we all been there to tell others not to

for less then 500 bucks you can get a new 16g

Do it at your own risk. if your going to spend $800 might as well spend $400 more and get a very dependable kit, that wont kill your motor or you . good luck. check out all the vendors on here, call some and they will help you out or find some one who has purchased a kit off ebay and see how their experience has been, again, good luck!

ok thanks for the warning about the ebay kit it doesnt look like im going to be picking it up any time soon. even though they might be cheap do they provide all the parts needed for a proper turbo kit? and any info the engine questions anyone?

Yeah, I agreed on not using ebay turbos. They're cheaply made and will go out very quickly. And on our car specificly, and other turboed cars out there in general, you can't be cheap on them or they'll quit on ya.
