Ok, first i want to start by saying this is embarassing to ask, but here goes. I have a 93 Plymouth Laser Base. I bought the car with no thermostat on it, i was wondering which way i install the new one. Is there a certain way it goes inside the cover or what? Also the guy told me that when he had the thermo in the engine, the upper hose would get nice and warm but the bottom one would stay cold. There is no clog in the radiator, and so he took out the thermo and ran it for a bit. He said both radiator hoses were nice and warm... Could this be because of a bad thermostat? Im sorry but im not very mechanical that is why im asking you guys, the experts. :thumb:

Assuming what he told you is true, that is normally the sign of a bad thermostat.

Ok... Well i just bought a new one, however i dont know which way it is supposed to be installed.

What I do when doing t-stat and if the t-stat doesn't have the jiggle valve is, drill a .050 hole in the flange area so the system will never have to be 'burped' of air locks and such.

4G37 motors are absolutely bulletproof if taken care of...worked on many of them. Seen them rack up 3 to 500k miles prior to overhaul ... and that's just valve seals, hone the cylinder walls, rings and bearings.
