Okay, is my firts post guys so idk if i'm posting this in a wrong side but hopefully someone would give me an answer. I have a 95 talon tsi with a 6 bolt swap. Has an upgraded 20g turbo, mount intercooler, 680cc injectors, stock fuel system, i:m about to buy dsmlink v3, i left the fuel system alon because i want to do a e85 conversion and i want to know what i will need. Also my goal is to be around 450 whp what else do you guys suggest me to get there? Also at 450 hp will the motor or tranny be at risk? i want it to be kind of reliable so i'm not sure. I've never taken it to the dyno so idk what it will make rn.

A lot of mis-information about E85 posted daily but it's proven, not just in DSMs, but EVOs, Subarus, etc that E85 does not require aftermarket lines or even aftermarket fuel filters. I'll make it simple: Wally 255 or better, 1000cc injectors or better, Adjustable FPR, and a great tune.

Thats really about it! A couple years ago my spyder made 452/440awhp on a dynojet with a single rewired 255, 1000s, stock lines, stock fuel filter and a -6 from the filter to the rail (to eliminate the banjo bolt at the filter), afpr too, on E85 @ ~29psi oh and a stock 7 bolt. I was seeing 90%+ IDCs though. This past year I added the flex fuel sensor and upped to 2200s. on a 5050 mix of E and 93 I made more power with less timing. So, 1000s will get you there but a little larger would be better.

As for your motor and trans, I cashed my trans at the 450 power level. It saw quite a bit of abuse though. So if it does decide to go be ready to fork out 3000+ for a trans that will hold. Im assuming you're awd? If not Id start looking into a LSD insert (limited slip diff). My question to you is, what clutch are you running? Stock clutch will barely hold over 300, ask me how I know!? haha The motor will be just fine as long as you aren't knocking all the time and you keep timing down. So be sure your tuner knows what he's doing. Lastly, while the 20g could get you there, it would be a stretch. Honestly Id say you'd realistically see 400.
 
I agree with the above statement. If I'm getting into my fuel system, just do it all once. I'm barely trusting my 25 year old OEM lines with pump 91. And I want to be covered if I run any kind of fuel, E100, alcohol, methanol, who knows maybe some mix with jp4, or even dump in some toluene :rocks:.

I would stay away from running any kind of kerosene-type fuel. They work great for diesel and turbine-type engines...not so much for our cars.
 
I live in Northern mn and just about every station here has E85. But the highest octane pump around here is 91 so most run corn up here
 
Lots of evo guys have had success with e85 conversions and run with 300-550hp .. you can pickup some decent used pumps/injectors on evo sites, including some sick double pump units guys are fabricating.

It's the "Future".. however, i own boats.. and i've seen what ethanol can do to those systems. Ethanol ate all of my hoses/seals/gaskets on my 1995 johnson 50hp motor in one season on the water using ethanol added pump gas. So i'm not a fan of ethanol based solely on that. but i understand cars are a lot different.
