Ok guys, I've recently blew apart the front case of my engine, so now it's coming out and it's time to take it up a notch.

Let me break down what i'm planning:
Stage 1: Rebuild parts
- Oil pump Case
- Water pump
- Thermostat
- Timing kit w/ accessory belts
- Full gasket set
- assembly lube

Stage 1.5: Machine work
cleaned and checked fo clearances/play
have the head and block decked
honed if necessary
should i have it balanced?

Stage 2: Engine Internals (staying with the 7bolt)
- Wiseco Pistons or Manley (SBR or Extremepsi)
- Eagle Rods or Manley (SBR or Extrempsi)
- Clevite 77 Rod and Main Bearings
- ARP Head studs/Main studs/crank bolt
- Balance Shaft removal kit
- Cometic Headgasket?
- Prothane Motor Mounts
- FP2 Cams
- Fidanza Cam gears
- Dual Valve Spring kit? or Crower? - (Havent really thought about it because i intend to buy a complete ported polished head from one of the vendors)
- Clutch (Already have ACT2600, but will inspect and may go over to SBR 3500)

Stage 3: Bolt Ons
- Fluidyne Radiator
- DNP Manifold
- FP3065 w/ o2 housing/feed&drain lines
- 1000cc PTE Injectors

Parts I already have to support the 450 AWHP Build
DSMLink
AEM WB o2
MAF-T
AEM Fuel Rail
255 Walbro pump
Aeromotive AFPR
FMIC w/ hard pipes
Greddy Type S BOV

Everything seems pretty good. How about adding an EGT and/or water temp gauges to help keep an eye on the vitals. I would also suggest the 6-bolt swap but you seem to be sure about the 7-bolt. You might want to consider swapping to a 1G big port head and 1G manifold while you have everything apart. Dual Valve Springs and Ti Retainers should at least be a definate on your list.

I really would like to do a 6bolt swap. however, it is my eventual plan to get the fully built 2.4L stroked long block from buschur/ams/ffwd or somewhere like that. I want to stick with my 7bolt block because with 120k miles it has done me well wish no serious problems until now. Also, to switch to a 6 bolt block now will require me to get brand new drivetrain parts which will add up to atleast another 1000 dollars.

As for the gauges I will be getting either a full autometer nexus/defi bf/or apexi EL2 gauge setup for boost/egt/oil pressure

Lastly before i get more heat for sticking with my 7bolt. I want to learn how to build a motor. might as well start with this one, because when i graduate then i'll do a 6bolt swap.

Any other suggestions in terms of what things to have inspected while at the machine shop?

So far everything listed above will cost just under 7k for this build. if anyone can refer to me where they know of significantly cheaper parts i would appreciate. NO USED PARTS. i have the list above itemized and categorized with prices from SBR and extreme PSI. so yeah. looking to put quite a bit of hurting on my pocket
