I don't think you would need the AEM Fuel rail. Might be bit of overkill to be honest. The FMIC can be had cheaper from Punishment Racing. TDO5 20g for $340? I'd stay away from ebay if I were you. And what is 4g63t?

First, what are your goals? Without knowing that its hard to say if this list is good or not. The parts that you've listed there are ok, but some don't really go well together. For example, you have a big SMIM, yet want to run 264/272 cams. Don't get me wrong, I ran 264/272 cams on a 16g car and loved it, with a 1g smim the midrange and torque were phenomenal, but that race smim will want to breathe more at higher RPMS than your turbo and especially cams will be able to. Also, as stated before eBay turbos are hit or miss. If you only want to spend a few hundred dollars on a turbo I would look at used/rebuilt MHI or Holset. What are you using to tune with? That's a huge aspect of a build that isn't even mentioned in your list. Also, said above (again) the fuel rail is completely unnecessary, stockers are as large as -10an IIRC and have run tens before, there is no way you're outflowing it on a 20g sized turbo. Finally, why are you only building part of your bottom end (rods but no pistons), and why did you include a 4g63 on your parts list? You have a 91, and therefore a 6 bolt, why are you getting a new engine?

I would normally agree with another turbo over ebay, if your budget only allows you to get ebay then do it. Will be fine, people just like saying there bad without trying them, although don't expect the same results. Also get a water to air cooled fmic. Cheapest route.

Also, A 4g63t is slang terms for a turbo "oil squirter" block. As in the turbo block

I say go for the punishment racing fmic or VRSF, which is what i have and am happy with, cheap too.

also, rods but no pistons?
if your going to do all that work, replace everything worth replacing, or your still going to have weak links in the engine.

What are you using to tune with?
your going to need gauges, boost, wideband, etc.

Definitely look into DSMlink or a comparable tuning device as you are making pretty extensive mods. :thumb: Other than that looks like fun!

What kind of pistons are you going to be using? What kind of compression do you plan on running, and how much horsepower? As far as the 20G, don't you mean TD06? And yes, stay away from Ebay Turbos. I have one that I got for free and it is crap. The flapper doesn't even shut all the way.

punishment is ok, but the one mangina sells is a heck of a deal and makes decent power too. its what, 299? maybe 399 since is selling normally now after the 30 person group buy?

Sorry, I left out a lot of details I guess. The ECU is already chipped with a Stage III key driver. So I don't have a need to use a link. The engine is blown, which is why I need a new one. And the engine already has aftermarket pistons, Im just not sure as to what kind they are. The person who owned it before me basically grenade bombed the block, but the head is still in pretty decent shape. The reason why I chose an Ebay turbo is because my brother-in-law, and myself have bought turbo's off Ebay in the past, and have had nothing but good outcomes. I'll be sure to look into the PR FMIC, and I'll swipe the fuel rail off my list. Should I still get the bigger injectors and fuel pump? Id like to be somewhere in the 330+ range for horsepower. My ultimate goal for the car is 10 seconds or better. Id like to have a really fast street car for a while, then turn it into a full blown drag car. Tunning, I'm not too sure of, because there are not many speed shops around that will actually tune for me. But as stated above, the ECU is chipped already, so would I still need it tuned? I thought Key driver and DSMlink were basically the same thing, with a few minor differences.

they are no where close.
keydiver chips are good, but with all the mods your using you will need something else to tune with.
for optimal performance to get everything working perfectly.

As stated,
Figure out what you want out of the car 'realistically'. 330 whp will not get you in the 10's. A real MHI 20g will get you right around the 400 whp mark. Break up the build into sections, eg: fuel/engine management, block/head, induction, exhaust, cooling & drivetrain.

Some of the items may overlap into more than one category but that's OK. This way you'll cover all the bases. I agree that the oem fue rail is more than enough to satisfy your current needs. I'd recommend 72# injectors as it will give you room to grow but if you already have Jeff's (Keydiver) chip set for 650cc injectors then stick with them.

what are your plans for tuning?
jackyl-aem theres another one but i cant rember what it is. cheap jackyl not so cheap aem ems

I would first get the car running before talking about a wish list. And any previous owner that claims "aftermarket pistons" is usually lying. Who puts pistons into a car without knowing the brand or any info about it?

Out of your wish list, I would scrap the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, fuel rail, connecting rods, adjustable cam gears, and here are the reasons why....

If you're going to get a "bolt on" FMIC kit, it wont fit with the intake manifold. Its not really necessary for you for a 20g. Unless you plan on revving real high, I would worry about this mod until last.

You dont need a built engine for a 20g, so just use a stock rebuild 4g63. FP's "race" manifold is just a nice cheap manifold for using a stock mitsu style turbo (20g) and isnt worth the money in my opinion. It barely outperforms a stock manifold. Just port yours out. Plenty have gone 10's on the stock manifold.

No need for adjustable cam gears yet. You got other work to get done.

And you'll never exceed the limits of the stock fuel rail. I still use it and I make 600+ whp.

Now that Ive saved you a bunch of money, invest in a real turbo that isnt sold on ebay. :thumb:

Thanks. Like I said, Im on a budget build, so I was looking for the cheapest things that seem good. What turbo would you guys recommend?

Yea I would also recommend that you look into DSMLink/ECMLink its one of the best purchases you can ever make for your DSM.

A 16/18G is a great option for you to start with. They can be found everywhere for not that much money and will take a beating and keep boosting. You might have some issues getting 330whp with keydriver (never used it, don't know exactly how capable it is), but it is very possible. For what it's worth we learned how to build/tune/drive with a 16g and put down 347hp/357tq on 93 octane on a dynapack with Linkv2, and others have done much more, so the turbo is definitely capable of reaching your initial goals. I would strongly suggest that you not try to shoot for tens; walk, then run. Also, the power required to run a ten second quarter typically will quickly expose every weak link in your drivetrain, and you did say you wanted a budget build...

I would also be hesitant about reusing parts like pistons from a grenaded engine unless you know for sure that they are in good shape. Any debris that got caught in between the piston and cylinder wall would make them useless, even assuming that they are the correct overbore for your new block.

First ebay turbo project into the tens EVER! :) Post a video!

My ebay turbo:

NO ONE who has EVER pushed an ebay turbo to their advertized potential has had them last. You nor I have seen a 38lb/min flowing ebay 16g last. MHI 16gs flow that kind of air all day long. You want to push a td05h turbo beyond what they typically do maxed out at the track. The td05h hotside is an 11 second hotside when being pushed very hard. There's less than 5 people who've ran a 10.99 or better with a td05h turbine wheel some gutted to the point of not being streetable in the least. So pushing an ebay version of the td05h wheel that hard? MHI center sections have failed at that level. Used MHI is far better than new ebay. If you want to see the potential of the wheels being used and not puts around on 15-18psi with stock cams, stock manifolds and 2.5" exhaust. The above video is what happens when you work the turbo with good flow demand and healthy boost levels.

You can get the cxracing 31" X 11" X 3" intercooler and piping for MUCH less than $400.

For 10s: You will need a bigger turbo. You will need more injector. You will need the ability to CONTROL your tune, your evo O2 housing is a restriction.

Good choice in the exhaust manifold. A stock manifold is a restriction and evo3 manifold is a restriction. Just because some have gone high 9s with it doesn't mean that they wouldn't have gone low 9s with something else. There are guys gaining 2-4mph in the mid 110s trap with the fp race manifold. CB pulled the evo3 16g record with it. It is a solid upgrade to the terrible flowing 2g/evo manifold.
