I did some short datalogging tonight finally. My results are err a bit odd. I ran a third gear pull from about 2000 rpm up to about 6500. I got a little bit of knock in the 3000 rpm range and the timing backed off to about 12 degrees. The knock then went to 0 and the timing shot up to 45 degrees then leveled off at an even 39 and held there til redline. I have a 2g mas on a 1g, safc, 550's, supra pump... no fpr (i dont think this could be causing everything though). Any ideas?

The timing was down to 6 degrees when it was knocking. So i don't know if its the base timing.

I do believe so... I can check it with my safc but I believe everything is cherry. The car does run rich, its a buschur stage 2 heads 264 272 cam combo car so it has never idled perfectly and I have a stock fpr with a supra pump so it has always ran rich. However this is something totally unexpected.

What's odd to me is that you're not knocking with that much advance....

It is quite strange. I havent changed a thing on the car since my 12.000 run either, except for the clutch. I don't have any clue why its doing this... as soon as it sees boost and goes into open or closed loop (i forget which is which) the knock disappears, and timing jumps. I'll probably check out the base timing as soon as I can get my hands on my friends timing light.

Umm yeah i am a moron... I was looking at the wrong area of my graph and not looking at the area where I was at wot... Stupid me. I ended up getting like 11 degrees at redline and 43 for teh knock count.

11 degrees advance at redline. holy shit thats worse than i was seeing last night in my attempts to tune this new ecu and keydivers chip. i was seeing 13-14 deg at redline with about 5 or 6 counts of knock. now i am seeing 16 deg redline :dsm:

Yeah I might actually need to richen the car up a bit. 550's 2g mas and -17 for my afc settings. That still doesnt explain the horrid amount of exhaust smoke though. Perhaps i'm running so rich that its knocking and pulling timing. Who knows, i'll fool with it and see what happens.

When you say horrid amounts of smoke it makes me think you are way too rich.....could be rich knock. Thats why I have decided to get a wideband O2 ....I have to know my O2 values. I love info when I am driving. :thumb:

This is no good, when it goes into open loop the ECU no longert uses the O2 readings for feedback and uses base timing and fuel maps.

I would find out why ut is doing this!

Check your sensors(tps,maf,O2, etc).

If you had read the entire thread you would have been informed that I misread my pocketlogger. I was reading the wrong information.
