OK well I changed the valve cover gaskey on the 420A and it doesn't seem to seal all the way I have tried it twice now and the second tim e I used adhesive, the gasket it self is one the FelPro rubbergaskets, please help me out so I can get this corrected. Thanks

Def. make sure the valve cover and the head where the gasket meets is clean, clean, clean and smooth as possible. I used a parts washer for the valve cover and red rags with steel wool to clean the mating head portion.

You should be good with a slightly leaking VC for a couple days, man. Just be sure the mating surfaces are clean prior to reassembly. In addition to the places where the instructions call for some RTV, I like to use a small bead inside the groove on the cover where the gasket sits. This keeps it from falling out or getting tweaked when I go to set the cover back on the head. Might help you out a bit. It's just a wee-tiny bead though. Don't over do it, mang. :thumb:

Thanks To everyone I am in a tighter jam now the three bolts just won't tighten so i was told to use some heela? coil stuff to redo the hole and then do it that way

OMG ALWAYS! use suggested torque specs from the manual. After torqing a bolt for extra precaution you can make a 90 or 180 degree turn but never overtighten anything on an ALUMINUM head. "helia coil" is a popular fix on things like stripped spark plug holes, where tapping out to make a larger thread really isn't an option.

Great news guys no more leaking of the oil and as for the heali coil we didn't do it this time I figure i'd do it at a later time, when time isn't so precious
