420A 420a turbo, megasquirt Dyno results

The car was finally good enough to throw on the Dyno. This is only pump gas and 14psi. I ended at 14* timing going of the heat mark on the plugs. It is possible there is a degree or two left. It will have to be for another day.

I just don’t trust this 420a to go further as I don’t know enough about them. That and this thing is puking oil badly like it has a broken ring or piston. For now she will be happy I think. I hope to turn it up if she wants to in the future. You can see how inefficient this motor is at producing power in stock form. This is through a stock catalytic converter and a 2.5” exhaust.

This is with a full ebay turbo system. A 50mm T3 setup.

It's very easy to crack the ring lands on the stock pistons. A compression test would be a good idea. It's was very apparent when my first motor let go. It ran fine, but smoked like hell if you gave it any boost.

I had the valve cover off the other day welding some fitting for a catch can. It did not even don on me to check. Do these valve covers have baffles?

this motor was puking long before it came to me. I told her I suspected a broken piston. I built a sealed catch can that drains back to the motor. It worked so well it was sucking the motor dry and was flooding the intake tract so bad it was trying to fouls the plugs. Literally puking it’s brains out.

it was so bad I had to make a new line for the vent for the van and put it into a bucket so I could finish tuning it.

Do these valve covers have baffles?

Yes. There are baffles for the pcv valve side and for the fresh air side.

I figured. I have to ask her if she knows if the car was overheated or a timing belt victim. She bought the car not running and they had to put a new head on it. And as I said, it has smoked since day one.

as bad as it pushes oil, I am sure it has a broken piston.
