hey everyone, i have a 420a with a 60trim, it was hitting 10psi no problem but it started to slowly stop hitting 10psi..its at like 2 psi and when i get on it and it stops at 5psi i can smell almost a gas smell, I've replaced my intake gaskets and its fine but can't figure it out, theres like a pup pup pup noise ....could this be my injector seals??

did you upgrade the fuel pump/ injectors? buddys civic was turboed and he forgot to do his injectors and it was doing this at first he would hit 8psi spike 12 then it would drop to 4 and wouldnt go higher

Agreed. The gas you're smelling is from a boost leak causing your car to run very rich. Look over your intercooler piping. More than likely you had a coupler pop off. Good luck!

This does not happen on speed density engines. There is no mass air sensor metering the air to cause an incorrect reading. Pressure in the manifold is pressure in the manifold no matter whats reading it a boost gauge or a MAP sensor. If there was a leak between the MAP sensor and the manifold then it will run rich at idle and lean in boost.

None the less Boost leak test is the first order of buisiness depending on your fuel system it sounds like you have issues, could you describe your setup a bit further ?

^^^^ Boost leaks will cause him to run rich and smell gas. He has leaks some where that's why he is not hitting the set boost.

You obviously don't understand the difference between a draw thru maf system and a speed density system. Speed density measures pressure in the intake manifold. Anything before the intake is irreverent. You can totally unhook the intercooler pipe and it will run at the same a/f ratio as it did before. There is nothing measuring the air before the intake manifold, SO boost leaks will not cause a speed density car to run rich.

The "pup pup pup" noise could be a lean condition but we cant know with the info thats given. A boost leak before the throttle will not alter the fuel trims at all. A boost leak after the throttle big enough to drop his pressure that much I doubt the car would run at all, and even in the worst case scenario a boost leak after the throttle would make the car run lean in boost not rich to cause a gas smell.
