420A removal question

Im working on removing the engine in my 1995 Talon and i have a couple questions i was hoping someone could help with...


Should i unhook the power steering pump and pull the unit with the motor or just detach it from the block and flop it to the side ?

Is there an inspection plate or something i can get to the tourqe converter bolts thru or is it done a different way ?

Pull the pump off of the motor.

Remove the two braces that attach the engine to the transmission at the rear of the oil pan and the plate should fall out.

You can just unbolt the pump from the engine and bungy cord it out of the way. No need to disconnect it.

can i just take the power steering pump out and say to hell with it? mine squeals like a banshee, and started to spit fluid, a lot of fluid.

If it needs to be replaced anyway I would just pull it. It would help with the limited clearance to pull the motor. Don't toss it you will probably need it for a core return when you get a new one.

If it is squealing it is likely that the belt isn't tight enough. As for leaking fluid, you probable just need new o-rings where the hose connects to it.

looked at it with a flash light, all the fluid appears to have come from my PS pump resivoir. almost looks like it came from the cap on the resivoir? but when the engine was running she was squealin' deff didn't sound like a normal loose belt, probably just gonna pull the whole sytem. someday when i have the extra money i'll get a 400k5 belt and replace it with no AC. thanks for the help guys

took everything out, AC PS pump hoses the whole sha-bang. looks like it spit all the fluid from the seam on the PS resivoir, think the pump may still be good? otherwise i'm just gonna run it like this a while i think. i left most all of my powersteering in place, if this is shot i'll replace it next summer
