what are some good sites for parts for a 420a?
What is a good set up for this engine for daily driving.. but want some power? thanks

uhh i had 2 420as and they are horrible either way but. Start off with a air intake,headers,2,5"exhaust cat back and a 50 shot of nitrous than go from there..you wont see much of a difference though maybe a little. 25 hp from the 3 i think..umm id save and buy a gst or a turbo kit for yours

Why are the terriable? anyways.. i wont be able to do turbo stuff since its not all my money thats finacing the motor build, my father is helping out alittle. Im swapping my 1.8 for the 420a for some more power for daily driving. Thinkin for doing head work and maybe changing the comp. ratio. thanks.

well people are going to say its terrible because it isnt the turbo engine. ohio pretty much told you what you can do easily, just all the boltons, but it still wouldnt compare to a turbo engine.

if your swapping already, id look into swapping in a turbo engine, unless your dad doesnt want you having that.

but your general response is going to be "Sell the car and buy a GST/GSX","Dont bother", or "Swap in a turbo engine if you can"

Well if your lookin for performance and you dont wanna go turbo than i advise you to save the money. The 1k you will spend in a intake headers and a catback is not worth the money but its your call...if you want a performance 4 banger look into a civic SI

Dog you'd be better off with a 4G63 engine swap than a 420a... Really better off. To get real power outta our powerplants we have to rebuild and go way high-compression or boost them. If your still into this "swap-fever" go with a Honda-something... Their like legos...Snap on, snap off.

Hey bro listen go with a aem cai, headers, apexi 2.5 exhaust, port and polish, jeep t.b., short throw shift kit, intake manifold, that right there will prolly having you runnin mid to low 15's easy

mid to low 15's?? i think you might want to rethink that.... fastest n/t on here ran like a mid 15 something. There are a lot more mods that can be done to increase power for 1/4 mile time.... but those are some good things to think about starting off with :dsm:

But still, guys he has a gen 1 eclipse. The 420A is not a bad engine. I love mine, but when it comes to going through an engine swap, I'd rather speed the labor hours on something thats more... Sensible like a 4G63T. More bang for his buck. Esp if he rebuilds it before dropping it in. Putting a 420A in there would like, taking a 95 Integra GS and dropping a B16 series in there instead of a higher B18 series powerplant. The B16 would be an increase, but if your gonna go, go big. Of course this is just my opinion.

Ive actually seen a 420a putting 250 hp to the wheels n/a, so a little of power out of it is possible, if you want real power your gong to have to go turbo, the only thing that holds you back is money. i save alot of money by doing all my car work myself, thats just me, it might take a little longer but its worth it seeing as you know exactly what you did and dont have to worry about learning what other people have done to your car.

Also, i have done a little work to the 4g63 and in my opinion they are much harder to work on then the 420a, i would say that getting the stock turbo dsm would be a bad investment......turbo the 420a....

im sure most wont agree with me but thats where i would go with it

Everyone the mod moved this to the wrong section, I mean technically it's about 420as, but he has a 93 eclipse and he plans to swap his 1.8 for a 420a?! He can't afford a turbo kit at the moment so there is no way he is ready for a complete, CUSTOM, engine overhaul/ conversion. I think he made a mistake; darkness, look at a few pictures of the 420a and your motor... Completely different just as someone said earlier. Plus we have a FAQ for starting mods on the 420a as well. Your not going to be able to just SWAP your motor.

and the fastest non-turbo was billy mack at 14.6 all-motor check out 2gnt times.

Bulletdsm ran a 13.386...NT ALL-Motor (it's a beast!).... unless your claiming the fastest non- modified all motor.

Look at the dates why reserect a dumb thread about "how to make my car fast" when even back then all he had to do was search. There is NO NA 420a car neon or eclipse making 250whp. Mark is the fastest with the most whp and he barely broke the 200whp mark with fully built motor with race cams ans standalone tuning setup.

Really guys come on we who own the 420as love um but he has a 1sr gen, there is no 1st gen 420a only a 1.8 a 2.0 non turbo 4g63 and the 4g63T. SO quit talking about something that is impossible any how being the motors and trans are backwards. NO 420a 1ST GEN theres no such thing for a 93 they came out in 95
