Okay I drive a show car, its a 98 eclipse gs, (420a)

performance is not a huge issue to me because I live in maine, the roads have so many frost heaves that its not good for the car to drive fast in any way. so lets just remember that its a show car.

okay i need a header, to make my engine not look so bad, but i dont want it to make the volume of my exhaust much louder than it needs to be because in maine they are starting to crack down on that kind of stuff quite a bit now.

so whats the best exhaust to get for not too much that wont increase the sound too much and will look nice,

thanks,

mckooter

if you have a show car you should go with the greddys for maximum bling.or some ssautochromes will do,but they might purple on you.

go with the DC sports ceramic coated one... imo Ceramic > stainless steel... yes i have a stainless steel header LOL

Mine(ssautochrome) is still silver and I've had it on since march last year. I polish it once every two weeks. And I still don't understand why people hate this header? It was a quality piece for me, Mabey because I actually know how to install one

Well Chris says DC Ceramics are better and has stainless steel, I might say the opposite cause I have Ceramics, they booth really look nice though so its a toss up, check out my gallery and you can see a picture of em on the car. Don't touch them or esle you'll have permant finger prints on them, not good for show.

As for the Exhaust, I think your best bet would be Greddy, although I know they rust after a while, because my car came from Chicago, and I had to replace it cause it was so bad.

Make sure you keep the cat on their, and add another resinator if you have too.

All any 2GNT ever needs in terms of I/H/E:
eBay "short ram" intake w/ quality filter element > used header > GST rear exhaust section.

If you want to pay around $1200 for the same horsepower you could get for around $250, then go for it, sport. "Ram air" isn't even possible in a car, so feel free to throw your hard earned cash into the propaganda machines. You know what they say about fools and their money...

Isn't that the definition of a show car? You spend more money to get more shiney stuff. ;)

shinier?

not nessisarily, the exhaust is the only shiny thing on the car.

and im not as worried about the look, as long as its better than mine, just the sound, (im having trouble getting an inspection with a catback right now)

OOps! I guess that, since I think show cars are a complete waste of time and money and bore the living shit out of me, I must have blocked that part out on a subconscious level. Why make something look fast when it isn't, and even worse, why actually make something fast and then not drive it? What a shame. Oh well. To each his own, I guess.

i agree with you 100 %,but i just refred him to the greddys because of his "show status".the greddy seems like it looks nicer.

if the header isnt in bad shape i would just say get it sand blasted and maybe chromed

i got the ssautochrome for my 420A also and for a show car it hasn't failed me. plus you can get it off ebay for under $150.00. so it won't tear a hole in your wallet plus it'll give you the looks you want. :thumb:

If I wanted something fast and wasnt concerned about looks i definatly wouldnt have bought an Eclipse N/T, hell i probably wouldnt have got an Eclipse at all,

I like the look so thats why i got it

WTF dood i think your on the wrong website. this is a performance oriented site, and knocking the performance of these cars as a whole isnt the best thing to do :nono:
