Own a '95 420a Eclipse. The car has recently died at random going down the road like the key had been turned off, but always started up after a short period (5 minutes, at most.) Last night, the car died as if someone had shut the key off. This has happened before, and replacing the cam/crank position sensors fixed the problem.

In this case, the fuel pump doesn't prime, and there is no spark at the plugs. Pulled the harness plug from the Fuel Pump Relay and used jumper wires to connect the 3 terminals on the harness plug to kick on the fuel pump and ecu and drive the car 13 miles home after replacing the relay with a new unit with no luck. Never missed a beat. My question is, why would the relay not be tripping as it should and priming the fuel pump and activating the ECU, besides when I jump wires across the terminals on the harness? Where is the power source for this relay? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I had this happen with a Chrysler it turned out to be a faulty crankshaft postion sensor, the car would die on me would crank but refuse to start and I had to let it sit for a while until it would start again, I would get under the car and take a multi meter to that sensor, or.just replace it.

You can look around I think I've seen it for about 70$, or you can get it on flea bay (eBay) for about 20$.

I checked the sensor and it passed. I have a spare cam position sensor that I havent swapped out yet, but will do that tonight to see if that does anything. With both the Fuel pump/ASD relays plugged in, the fuel pump will not prime at all when the key is turned. But I did get the car running by jumping the terminals on the fuel pump relay harness, granted all that it did was make the pump run constantly when the key is on. This should mean that the problem is somewhere in the wiring in the fuel pump relay, right? Or are there other sensors that send power to the fuel relay?

The car is up and running again for now. Pulled a bonehead move and overlooked the obvious part of checking the engine fuses. Turns out one was blown. Now to track down the reason for it blowing. Thanks for any input.

Which fuse was blown? I'm having similar issue
Was it in the engine bay or by the kickpanel?
