420A 420a Fuel Pump Issue

I have a 1995 GS that I bought knowing it had a fuel related issue. I got to messing around with it and found that the fuel pump wasn't getting power for some reason. We ran a wire from the battery directly to the fuel pump and it ran and even drove for a moment. Also when we had the wire connected, we could hear the fuel pump working. But it was running sort of rough while it was running. Could this be a sensor that is the problem? I checked the fuel pump relay under the dash and it seemed to be fine. Please let me know and any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not super familiar with the 95 wiring harness. But the later year 420as have the fuel pump relay mounted to the firewall in the engine bay.

It's damn near impossible for us to know why it's running rough. But I would start with fresh plugs, fuel, air filter, maybe wires if they look bad and then see what you have.

Also check the fuel hardline that runs underneath the car. If it gets crushed or kinked it could cause the fuel pump to overload and quit.
