Hi i have a 98 eclipse rs which has a cat back exhaust and a cold air intake lt recently started to burn oil pretty bad so iv been researching about the engine prices and a stock engine goes for about 1200 i was woundering what my options are engine wise for my car all help is apprichated i want her to be running healthy again soon as possible

Well depnding on how wore out your motor is it could be a number of things. In my experience it was valve seals and valve guides that made my car burn oil. But there are other things such as the piston rings that could do it to

I would do a leak down test to find out whats wrong with your current motor. It could be something as simple as valve guide seals like already said. If the bottom end is worn you can either rebuild it, buy a used motor or buy a remanufactured motor. It really comes down to how much do you want to spend and are you good enough to correctly assembly a bottom end.

Since you have a cold air intake do you get oil in the intake pipe or blow white smoke? Oil in your air filter would indicate blow-by and white smoke would be valve seals or a combination of both. Rebuilding what you have is the best way imo.

First and for most. (just trying to be helpful and do not intend to sound like a jerk)

We need to see exactly what is wrong with the car. Then go from there.

once you figure that out you need to set a over all goal of what you want to do with the car. Just dd it, make it fast, autox, drag race, stuff like that.
