) and it's less than a 2 day drive from a lot of places. I can get there from Phoenix in 18 hours if I take my time. That would make it a 24 hour drive from Los Angeles, so I imagine the eastern states might not be much difference.

Say what? Bullshit. 2GNT is the best damn DSM site on the entire internet! I've been there just about two years now and have gotten nothing but quality information and a virtual family of brothers and sisters who have come out to Phoenix to visit me and the az2gnt crew, as well as letting us crash at their places when we venture out elsewhere in the country to meet others. I think the reason why 2GNT might seem "hostile" to some people from this board is that it's harder to hear people with the same car as you tell you to do a little research instead of the Toonerz-mantra of "sell it and buy a turbo." The people who feel that 2GNT is an elitist community full of non-supportive no0b-bashers are likely those people lacking the common sense to do three simple things for themselves:
1. Use the goddamn search.
What makes you think 2GNTers are any more interested in telling you what you need to do the nefarious 420a>4g63 swap than the people here?
2. Restrain yourself.
You wouldn't just walk up to bunch of DSMers at a meet and make your first comment one of, "Which turbo system is better, HRC or Star?" You would get to know people first and then mention your question in casual conversation. While it's a resource of information, for sure, it's powered by people just like yourself, and some manners go a long way.
3. Be cool bro!
If you get easily butt hurt by people talking shit on the internet, maybe you should walk away from your computer for a while. Take your lumps, let them roll off your back, and you will find that the internet becomes much more enjoyable.
As for the 420a meet, it already exists. Friday night before the DSM Shootout in Norwalk (during test and tune at Norwalk Raceway), there will be a 2GNT mini-shootout. As of right now, there are two classes with payouts of $200 to the winners in each class. We will have to share the track with whoever else is running that night from town, but the fastest turbo and all motor cars will be running for that cash prize. If nothing else, it pays for your hotel room. Last time I checked, there are more than 30 people from 2GNT going next weekend. NOTE: The cash is coming out of the pocket of 2GNT's head "asshole," DarkOne.
If Ohio is too far away for you, there is a possible SW DSM Shootout being planned for El Paso, TX in November sometime. So far it's not getting to be that big, but it's a new event and I'm pretty sure that the az2gnt crowd is looking to have at least 3 or 5 cars going down to compete. So I'm thinking, new event + mass 2GNTs = mandatory 420a classes.
The most centrally located place in the entire continental United States is going to Wichita, KS. They have a decent track there and even a turbo 420a guy who has run in the 12s who lives there. I used to live there and it's a decent sized town with sufficient things to do aside from racing (though I'll never live there again) and it's less than a 2 day drive from a lot of places. I can get there from Phoenix in 18 hours if I take my time. That would make it a 24 hour drive from Los Angeles, so I imagine the eastern states might not be much difference.
I would love to see there be an all 420a event held each year and I would support it fully. However it's going to take a lot of time and effort on the parts of those who would organize such a thing. You get something legit set up for next year that doesn't interfere with the National Shootout and you'll likely have a good turn out. Just don't rush things and get all butt hurt if no one shows. Regardless of who signs up, that kind of travel usually weeds out close to 70% of the people who are interested. Not many people have the time and cash to drive cross country for a two day event. You're marketing this to die hards like myself. Keep that in mind.
