So up untill a month ago I had always run a XTD stage 4 with a 6 puck. I loved it, I could slip it just right to get some decent 60's and it held the power well. Then I started making 550+ and it couldn't take that much. Then I was talked into a quartermaster. I hate the goddamned thing. I can't get the car out of the hole to save my life. So I bought a 2600 with a 4 puck. I'm kinda worried that it is going to be too on offy like the quartermaster. Any opinions? I have a pretty good 6 puck disc I can put in it, would I be much better off with that?

Well, I had a 2900 with a sprung 6 puck and it wouldn't hold the torque. Had to stop at 494tq on the dyno and it wouldn't even hold that consistently. All components were new from act, broke in, just wouldn't hold. You are right near the limits of the 2900 6 puck combo of 570ft lbs at the flywheel. I would run a twin and figure out how to get it out of the hole.

ACT pp w/ SouthBend disk has been proven at high powers. That's another option for you. It's the combo I'm currently running.

No its not. Straight from Tim Zimmers mouth. At the power I'm at, it will not take the abuse at the drag strip.

Again, I'm already moving to a heavier pp. I have the twin in the car right now and I hate the goddamned thing.

I'm really surprised the 2900 wouldn't hold. The xtd would hold most of the time and I figured it was a weaker one than usual...

Well if you don't like it, I know somebody that needs one ;)
Since the 2900/sprung 6 puck combo is rated at 570ft/lbs at the flywheel, I was surprised it held as much as it did to the wheels. Like I said though, it wouldn't hold it consistently. Each pull, the torque kept dropping off, while HP stayed over 550. I would work on the adjustments to try and get the twin dialed in as good as it can be. It should put more power to the ground than any single, shift better and net you lower e.t's in the long run. Maybe you're just so used to launching the car with a single that it's gonna take some time to get used to the twin. I would keep at it with the twin if I were you. Spend more time driving/launching it and tweak on the adjustments till you get it dialed in. If you just can't stand it in the end, hit me up, I still need a QM gear drive twin for 6 bolt awd. Good luck!

LOL, yeah I was looking at the act chart, and I suppose your right. There is no way a 2600 and 4 puck is gonna hold the power I'm wanting to make, I'm hoping to see 625+ so probably close to 500tq at the wheels. It's only a 13% increase in clamp load from my XTD setup. damn. I guess I better practice some launches. I'll let you know if I'm ready to part with this dam QM LOL. Its a gear drive one, and I got some extra parts too, but I bought it right, so I can let it go right too.

last minute thought... So these other guys claiming to have gone 135+ on a hy35 on pump gas, in a full wieght 2g, one of em claimed to be on a 2900 and 4 puck....I smell something fishy...

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you dyno higher than 475tq on the twin. Have you been to the dyno since changing clutches? Had I been able to hold all the torque, I fully expected my setup to make 550/550. I got there on the HP, just couldn't hold the torque. As for getting 52-55lb/min out of an hy35 on pump gas and trapping 135+ with a full weight 2g, I'd be suspicious of that claim as well. Maybe Curt Brown was driving ;)
