4 bolt rear question

ok after searching on here for a while ive learned that the 92.5 and ups had the 4 bolt rear how ever when i looked at the build date in my door jam it says auguast of 1991 and when i looked under my car at the rear i have a 4 bolt rear is there any possibility its factory or did the previous owner swap it i bought the car heavily modified but unfinished and torn apart this forum helped me put the car back together and answer many of my questions along the way im not new to cars by any means but have limited experiance with dsm's. i also have the orange sticker in the drivers door jamb stating it came with a LSD. my car does not have abs (obviously) if the rear is not factory how can i tell if its still a LSD first ever AWD car

The 4 bolt was installed by a previous owner. It sounds like your car previously had the 3 bolt LSD.

Climb under the car and look at the sticker on the diff. This is the one on my 4 bolt.

Thats not true, ive had two 6/4 92 DSM's, my TSi was made in april, and my RS AWD has a factory 4 bolt rear, and was built in november of 91.

I missed the part in his info about his car being a 92'. I thought he was asking about a 91'. Every 92' I have seen has had a 4 bolt from the factory.

see this is why i love this forum. i knew of the sticker on the door but not on the rear i know its the 4 bolt by the 4 bolt holes on the flange at the wheels and the thick area on the cv joint at the rear end housing correct ?

All 92's will have a 4 bolt rear.

It was only the engine that was changed from a 6 bolt to a 7 bolt in mid 92.
