first off, thanks for looking into my thread.

i just bought 3rd gen rx-7 rims because of how much they weigh and the fact i can put a wider tire on them. plus i got a really good deal on ebay for 203 dollars shipped :thumb:. from what i read their is alot of misconceptions on what is actually needed to run these rims. can guys help me with some of the questions that im not sure about?

questions
1. if i run a 225/50/16 tire will i need spacers?
2. will i need tuner lug nuts?
3. i know a 245/50/16 will fit what modifications will i need to make these work?
4. will i need longer studs to accommodate for the spacers?

thanks for the reply tuners :thumb:

while we are on the topic of these rims on DSM's in general. what does it take to make them fit on a 2g? i know alot of people run these rims, and no one has any pointers :nono:

after doing a little research i found out that the rims will with a 2g fwd with no spacers if your running a 225/45 or 50/16. ill post more when i find more info

damn i feel like im talking to myself. 1g awds need 5mm spacers in the back and the front fit just fine. with the 5mm spacer in the rear you will have to do some grinding on the control arm. i am also unsure of what size tires he was running :thumb:

okay i just found out that if you use a 225/45 or 50/16 tire you will need no spacer in the front but the 5mm spacer in the back with a little grinding of the lower control arm. from what i understand this isnt a very difficult task to do. ill get back to everyone when i find out if a 245 will fit

How much do the stock 3rd gen RX7 wheels weigh? I never thought about using those. I have been looking for a light and cheap 16 inch wheel to use at the track.

My 17's are pretty light, but it would be nice to have a lighter wheel with a wider tire all the way around.

they weigh something like 14-16lb. i picked up mine for 200 shipped off ebay which is a super good deal for them.

i just put the wheels on my car and had a tiny bit of rubbing. i bought the wheels, spacers and lugnuts from the same guy so it was a easy swap. the tires are 225/50. im pretty sure you dont need spacers for the front but i just put em on anyways. (since i got 4 spacers). the back wheels were rubbing on the control arm. it was the very inner wheel lip part. but all i did was drive on the high way for a little while and it grinded its self down :D yeah maybe im fawkin w/the balance of the wheel but its really minimal and i dont have a grinder. i CAN tell you, your going to need bigger spacers and longer studs. i can tell by just looking at my car. i think i have 5mm spacers. good luck :thumb:
