Ok so the other night I was runnin wot in 2nd and went shift into 3rd and it acted like i missed the gear but to my surprise 3rd and 4th were not there. Now I've heard people saying something about the shift forks and some kind of hub failure causeing this, but as I tried to limp the car home I noticed that 3rd and 4th would come and go while 1st, 2nd, and 5th still all work fine. I've checked the cables at both and everything looks good.

Any ideas on what could cause this. I've been reading some of the other threads but they all seem to have lost the two gears completely where as mine seem to be intermitant. There is also a very faint grinding noise when the two gears dont work.

Sounds like you bent the 3rd and 4th shift fork as they use the same fork and shift rail!

So would the grinding be caused by the selected gear not being fully engaged due to the fork being bent? Ok like it will go into forth, but if I let off the gas without pushing the clutch and then get back on the gas its like turning off a switch. 4th will quit working untill I go to nuetral then back to 4th, and the same with 3rd.

Did you check to make sure when moving the shift lever that the cable's were not hitting anything? I had the same problem but with 4th once and found out a had someting fall between my cable's.
