I installed 3g lifters in my car. I just cranked it up for the first time today, these suckers are ticking. I know they are suppose to but, how loud are they going to be. These things are pretty loud.

They will tick for the first 5 minutes, even if you bleed them correctly.....you did that right?

After the 5 minutes it should be completely gone, unless its not lifter tick that your hearing. If your still hearing lifter tick after the 3g liftres, maybe question the type of oil your using?

Yes I bleed the lifters. Its still ticks after the first five minutes though. I'm using valvoline oil right now.

Try throwing in some lucas and see if that helps the tick, it shouldnt be ticking with the new 3g lifters.

mine took a while before they stopped ticking. up the idle a little bit, to increase oil pressure. see if that works.

wow... I'm suprised... I totally submerged my lifters in oil for a couple hours, pressed the excess oil out and after I fired my car up it didn't even tick once. What procedure did you use?

Give them a couple hundred miles to settle in.
Don't go to additives except as a last resort.

Thats what I've read, is that it takes a few hundred miles for them to stop completely. But my question is how loud are they, these things are loud.

Just instead some in a 2G. The ticked for quite some time. Well I didn't install them but they where need in a head he had built. Their where not primed. It was about over an hour of operation and at least 6 cool downs before they quieted. Just give them a little time. Also that car had a bad FPR solenoid which was loud enough to actually sound like lifter tick. After we unplugged it the tick was gone. Not to sure if that was the noise all along but since it's right next to the head it could have thrown the ear off.

Thanks for all the responses. But no one has said just how loud the ticking is. This isn't just normal lifter tick, it sounds more like lifter knock. Its definetly coming from the head though.

I found the problem. All the lifters except one are good, the one that was making all the noise is really sloppy. I got one on the way.
